New finds

Postby lrrowe » Tue Sep 29, 2015 5:09 pm

It seems that I have been coming across new and/or interesting product ideas lately and have been posting the better ones (to me that is) here. So I thought I would continue doing so, but under this thread. I invite others to do the same.

Here is the latest, another portable camp grill.

I ordered this Solar light from Amazon for about $15 for use around the camp.

I used it around the yard for awhile and I can say it has a very bright light and sensitive range.

This photo does not do justice of the light put out. I put it out on the ground while at the hunt camp last weekend and it did a great job of lighting things up when you walked into the detector path. In fact on a windy night the leaves blowing around set it off (or it was that elusive bear that I always worry about)

Re: New finds. Awning

This one is new to me. But you more experienced members may have seen it before. This lady makes awnings targeted at Vintage Trailers. But I see an application for me for a 6' x 6' one to go over my CT's barn doors. Maybe they can work for your TD's too. The prices did not seem too bad for what I want.

Wish I had ordered it when it was available. Would be a nice fender mount table.

I like the silicone glasses. High price, but then again, quite flexible.

I think I saw something similar to this in the forum recently. Wonder if it was not the same brand?

The silicone glasses work very well & a lot cheaper by the pair. My sister gave me some for Xmas:

TNTTT doesn't like the above link. You'll have to cut & paste.

Not a new concept but new to me. I decided to try these since my pop-up project is in the garage with one side tight against the wall. This will allow me to swing it out to work on that side, rotating it on the wheeled tongue jack. Otherwise, I would have to roll the rig out of the garage, turn it around, and roll it back in to work on that side. Haven't installed them yet as I'm in the process of changing out the Dexter axle and cleaning the frame.
They have brakes on two wheels and each dolly is rated for 1,500 lbs. Found them on eBay for $62 shipped.

I considered this concept when I tried to lower my CT so as to fit in the garage. I was thinking of resting my brake hubs on them, but Dexter and emphatically said "no", or do not this. I sort of thought this was a bad idea, but I wanted confirmation. My friend is moving his project 68 truck mod around with them. Works great.

I got that same emphatic "no" from a lady in the Dexter engineering department when I asked about jacking the end of my torsion arm in order to remove a mounting bolt. Turned out the 26 year old axle is shot so I'm replacing it anyway.
