Good day everyone,
I'm new here and really newbe in teardrop. I plan to build a 5X10 teardrop rimble design. There is my plan and of course a load of question

I want to be able to sleep 4 in there and keep my galley. I got to kids (2 and 3) so I dont want to leave them on a side tent and I plan to go on the rockies and dont want to use a tent because of bear lol.
Feel free to give me your opinion, pro and cons






And for the wall. I want to be able to use my teardrop late in fall and I'm living north and it is cold. So there is 3 idea i draw. which one is the best and is it overbuild?

All was easily understood....

I'm not sure what you mean by better. You can just use foam and minimal wood with a harder skin. the wood battens unnecessarily replace insulation. The inside could be done with 1/8 ply or "door skins", outside 1/4. But that's just my approach. I used canvas. You may not be comfortable with it. More concern for me is your flat roof's structure.

About the flat roof structure. I like the moby1 xtr model and plan to put a roof rack on the top to bring some stuff and later probably a tent for the kids.

I will do a cardboard design to see if my wife and I like it and start building right after she said yes

I'm still not decides a 100% about 5 or 6 wide.

Hi Eric... welcome to the forum...

I like the older "Standee" style and always liked the 1940 (12 foot box length) Terra Cruiser (Plans posted in 1940 Outdoor Sports magazine); I have looked these over and thought if I were to build a Standee, I would like to pattern it after this. I like the rounded front and aft, as well as a curved roof to help shed water, snow, etc...

Here is a pic of the trailer, but the photo was cropped a bit in the roof line in the magazine... It actually has almost 24" inches of rise between the front and back, but the center rise is about 4", exhibiting a nice arc ... Take care and good luck...
