I think Minnesota Parks are spendy and purchased an Annual Pass last year and it offers considerable savings for stays in Minnesota State Parks (about 1/2 off) and I also purchased an "Old Guy" Federal Recreation Life pass that offers great savings as well... It allowed us to travel through Yellow Stone and Teton Nation Parks FREE last year and camping is greatly reduced as well...

Have you checked on these and Do Wash and/or Oregon offer State Park passes... ??? :NC

Yes, there are passes for state parks but for day use only in Oregon and Washington. And they don't give any breaks to old folks, but I will check into it again, since I am officially old folks now. I pay $50 for two years to park in day use lots, but I'm only 30 miles from the coast and stop in reasonably often. I have the America the Beautiful pass but I haven't attempted to use it for camping yet.

I thought you had probably checked it out already. I saw where there was an annual pass for $85, but wasn't sure if it was for camping or not... :NC ... Oh well, a person needs to check on these things and save $$ where you can... :money:

I've talked to BLM. If the guy knew, he said the America the Beautiful is good for many federal type parks which don't usually have flush facilities and such. But he said some campgrounds are contracted out and those people charge but probably not too much. He said to stop at a forest service office and see if they have brochures, which I will do. I hadn't looked into it before because I didn't really need to, but I am rather curious and like to save money. Going to the coast, the casinos are a good place sometimes. That pass costs the average bear $80 a year. But old folks get it for $10 for life, and that works for me!

This is true and we have stayed in our share of Wally's and Love's Truck stops... and I am glad they allowed us to stay several hours or over night... BUT, I really like slowing down my travels anymore and relaxing in a nice, quite campground...
  :D :D

I did sign-up and join the Good Sam club and there are many campgrounds that offer Good Sam members a discount... and their website allows you to search for campgrounds; this can be of assistance sometimes...

I belong to Good Sam and have looked at many campgrounds online but haven't stayed at one. I also haven't tried taking either of the dogs with me. That should be interesting because I can't take them both, and both of them are home bodies and have stayed home with husband. If I take one, I'll want to be in a campground.

We have been to a number of gatherings where folks have brought two dogs and they seem to be along fine; of course, I never visited them at night when Wife and Hubby, along with two dogs, were trying to sleep..

No joke intended here, but reading your comment makes me think of trying to get some sleep while bowzer and spot decide to walk around in the TD... :surrender: :cheerswine:

If I took both dogs, I'd have to sleep outside. They aren't huge but big enough; they would be a hassle. One is not fond of other dogs, she gets growly with them, and she's older. The other we haven't had long, so he would need to get used to everything if he goes along. They are a possessive breed. And it's best to beware of the owner in my case.
