Picked up this sweet 5x8 last week with the plan to do a simple, but nice conversion. Ordering parts right now, with a planned start of march, or april. Depending on the weather. This site has been a good resource, and I am looking forward to this project.

Nice.. I just started another one myself. Anything I can do to provide assistance via the forum, let me know. What are your goals for the Conversion? Self contained or just a place to sleep and stay dry? Are you planning a toy hauler... or just a camper?

It will be a solo camper. I am installing a side door, otherwise the exterior will remain as is. To keep the stock, stealth look. Inside i will be building essentially an entertainment center, with cabinets. The rear will have a TD galley inspired storage area, but not really a traditional kitchen. The trailer will be 12v battery/solar, or generator powered. I plan to start a build thread as I finalize my plans.

This I like. There is something infectious about a cargo trailer. All that space and the potential for a rock solid camper and head room -Amazing

You are a step a head of me. I am in this middle ground of choosing between a Tiny Trailer, Tear drop and converting a small Cargo. I am a amateur astronomer, photographer, and a naturalist. I try to travel in the Summers when I have time. Your build should be cool for me to watch and instructive.

Hi Trevor... Welcome to the Forum...

I went with a Cargo Conversion and love the trailer... It will be going through a galley and bunk build finish and other homey upgrades this summer...

I plan to start a build thread soon. I have been going nuts on amazon.com buying everything I will need to build it. I am hoping to do it for under $2,000 including the cost of the trailer.

I did the Amzn thing for most items.. came in at like $1800 for all the parts to do my 6x12.

Welcome to the 'club'.

I suggest getting large cardboard cartons and use them as templates to lay things out.. that will save you lots of headaches..

Got to love Amazon. I have been doing the same . My trailer is being built custom as I added 18 inches in height. I pick it up in a week and then I will start my build journal. I learned a lot on my last build. Let me know if I can help with any ideas.
