Plan B (update with pic)

Due to our lovely Northwest weather, I have had to change my build plans. They are forecasting rain for the next week. That means I can not do any painting on the exterior of the trailer.

That being said, I have decided to work on the galley cabinets for the next week & the clean-up & make enough room to squeeze the trailer into the garage to paint. I took some measurements tonight, I looks like if I get it off to one side I will have about 3 feet to work on one side & then I will have to move it over to the other side to do the other side.

It appear I have thrown out my original plans for the galley also. So as usual, it will be design as I go. I had planned on putting the cooler in a pull out drawer. After I put my hatch on, I found the I am 1/4" shy of being able to do it on the top corner of the cooler if I put it length wise.

I am also trying to figure out where to put the stove. I wanted it on a pull out shelf It does not appear that is gong to happen either.

Oh well, if I did not have to change my plan mid stream, I wouldn't be building some thing.

Do design as you go.

It might not satisfy some, but it has such a romantic flair to it.

I'll bet there is more design as we go than design ahead and write it down!

Design as you go, has been the story of my build. With the exception of the HF frame and Mike's Curved Weekender profile the entire Escape Pod has been of empirical design.....

It's a lot more fun and interesting to me than simply following directions, even if I had written/drawn my own.

Here is plan B.



The top area is shelves 13" deep at the bottom & up 8" and 8" deep at the top. They are about 20" tall.

The grey line in the middle is the counter. It is about 36" from the ground. It will be 17" deep in front of the upper shelves.

Right above the counter on the left is the stove pullout. Below the counter on the left is the 12v power outlet & light switch. Below the counter on the right will be the sink on a pull out shelf.

The bottom left will hold the stove, 5 gal propane (while traveling) & 7 gal water.

The bottom middle will be 2 drawers, top is silverware & cooking utensils. It is about 5"h x 13" w x 18" deep. The bottom will be Pots & pans. It is about 12"h 13"w & 21" deep.

The bottom right will be the cooler.

Go for it.

I am pretty sure the bottom will not change. I am sure the top half will.

My goal on the bottom was balance/weight distribution.

I will put the cast iron DO & charcoal in the under bed storage.

Design as you go! The perfect way to get-r-done! As far as the ice chest goes, did you consider getting a different chest? Just asking because if that is the only barrier, you might be able to skirt it with a change. I love plan "b" too

I looked. The newer ones are longer because the the walls are thicker.

I normally need 2 coolers. There are 4 of us when we go camping. When I go hunting I take a smaller one. It will not be a big deal. I can lift it iout to cook & put it back in when I do not need it.

That looks like a great layout!

But 1/4" of an inch KILLED me in the galley because I designed as I went:

I couldn't fit my second oven in there. (Yes, oven--and don't ask why I wanted two.)

But when you get lemons, make lemonade--I'm converting that second oven to a smoker that will travel in the truck. It'll be cool to have a nice compact smoker for use on a side table.

Let me clear that up. That is plan B on paper. It has chnaged 100 times in my head.
