I had checked with soapy spray but it was so damn small it didn't even bubble up. I make it sound crazy but I was very sure it was miniscule before I lit it since it didn't bubble up.

It sounds like you and I have the same luck with plumbing!

Seriously, I'm glad you got it fixed.

I have been following this thread. This has been quite a project!

I was brain storming with a fellow at work about my lift bed and he announced that he had just what I needed.........

Image

Worm drive gear reduced power transmission gear box. At 30 to one reduction the bed will be almost nothing to lift up into the cupalo of the caboose.

I will extend the two output shafts to about 2 ft each and incorporate 4" diameter take up spools for the straps to wind up on.

Here is the design oh so long ago

Here is one of the 4 lift points in the cupalo

In my RV tech days I did many pre-delivery inspections- I had to do a leak down test of the propane system. You need an inch range manometer to do the test and verify the gauge has no drop in pressure after about 5 minutes.
No manometer at the Bob Henry estate? No problemo- you can make your own with a piece of wood and PVC tubing. :)

Looks like you will have no excuse for being cold, except laziness...and I think we can all agree that Bob Henry is not lazy.

Well I can't quite agree as I DID get lazy.

I had all these scrub trees cut and ready to buck to length

Image

and there is a 48" storm damaged oak that is laying 8 feet from the back door that needs to be cut to stove length.

Image

Had I not been being lazy and babying my surgery incision I would have had a lot more done !

Babying your surgical incision isn't laziness, it's prudence. No point in getting all that wood cut, and then keeling over and never being able to use it! :o

I know, I know ! All to well. About the 5th week I was bored and disgusted with getting nothing done so I decided on some "light duty". How much trouble can you get in planting flowers? So I lugged over this tank and rolled it around to paint it. Tossed in about 6 concrete blocks to take up some space. Then ripped open and tossed in 5 or 6 40 pound bags of top soil and potting soil and planted my mums. Well somewhere in this "light duty" I tore open the incision internally. It didn't hurt at the time but the next 3-4 days I paid hell for my stupidity.

I don't think you ever learned what "light duty" means!!!!! LOL As others have mentioned, you are far from being lazy......ALWAYS busy doing something. Wish I had a portion of your energy.

That's a very good point! Be especially careful when lifting things, Bob. You aren't a kid any more (not a reference to godskid). When you are older, it takes longer to heal and get back your muscle strength. Those pieces that you pulled out don't look too hard to cut up, especially the kindling ones; but, the fallen oak can wait until summer. Anyway, that fallen oak needs to sit a while to dry and season before using it, right?

Once again the yard sale gods are good to me !

I have pinned down a 3-0 tall by 4-0 wide 2 foot deep bay window with two crank out casement side wings. Heck it even has the screens.

I will pick it up tomorrow night one of the guys at work had it. Not bad for $20.00 Huh?

The caboose was rather plain on the south side and needed a window so before

Image

So here is where it should land. Image

I am sure its a bit out of scale but I am sure glad to have found it before I got the battens attached on this side. Just need to cut out 2 studs and header off and add a couple new king studs and it's in. It will be right at the headboard of the letdown bed at night and behind the couch during the day. I will get pics as it happens.
