Advice on first build

One thing to check out is the maximum width you can go which includes the guards. It used to be 8ft but may have increased but I'm not up with the regs nowdays so factor that in as well. One other thing as you're going with battery and solar I looked at 240v as well but with all the great led lighting around now I gave it a miss. My phone ,tablet laptop all charge via 12v plug and the TV/DVD are also 12v so no need these days to worry about mains power. Makes for cheaper sites in parks if you stay in them

While I can't offer any help on the build, having had mine built for me due to physical impairments, I will offer this:

From the diaper stage through out 20+ years of camping my kids always had their own tent.
Just a inexpensive box store recreational tent, foamies and sleeping bags.

The benefits are enormous ranging from a full night's sleep for mom and dad or just mom or dad to independence and resiliency in the kids.

A tent is far easier to pack into a smaller teardrop than is finding sleeping space for growing kids in the same teardrop.

You do not have to stick with the conventional design, ours is a 6X10 Grasshopper design, lots of interior room and storage.

Shadow catcher - I love your design but is there plans available on this site for a generic version? The reason i feel like i need to stick with the generic first build is mainly because all the plans available, its been tried and tested and Mike has also provided a walk-through which is simple to follow.

Hmm - think that's the fence I'm sitting on at the moment Danny. I have emailed Mike to see if he can send metric plans for the generic because I can't download them in a version that allows me to change them. Then I need to get moving!
