From the diaper stage through out 20+ years of camping my kids always had their own tent.
Just a inexpensive box store recreational tent, foamies and sleeping bags.
The benefits are enormous ranging from a full night's sleep for mom and dad or just mom or dad to independence and resiliency in the kids.
A tent is far easier to pack into a smaller teardrop than is finding sleeping space for growing kids in the same teardrop.
