My Evil Plan

I just purchase a 2016 Freedom enclosed 7 x 14 Motorcycle Trailer with a RV latch door. After visiting this site it appears that a evil plan to multi purpose and make it a toy hauler has taken over. Ran the idea by my SWMBO (She Who Must be Obeyed- Home brewer term) and she was very excited about hauling the motorcycles and camping instead of being stuck in a hotel. We have a lot of camping equipment but when weather turns I prefer the warmth and comfort of a camper. So I need alot of help to make this happen. My skills are pretty good and being a aircraft mechanic really does help also I have plenty of time to build since I only work 4 days a week.I thought I would do it in phases. I will be taking delivery of the trailer in a few days and am trying to sort things out. So tell me where I might make a mistake in my plan.

Phase 1
1) Windows-2 not sure of size I look at the spec 16" side wall tube spacing. Should I add one to the door and to the opposite side?
2) I understand to insulate the walls and ceiling first with 1" foam. How about the floor?
3) Electric I was reading the forum on electric system. Should the trailer be 120VAC with 12v/6v electrical? Still trying to determine everything that needs to go in a toy hauler
My List of electrical items. A) Outlets (6),which should power Microwave, Coffee maker, Small TV and DVD/Game system,Phone, Charging station, Outside outlet, Spare outlets for heating which right now is a oil filled space heater and LG Portable air conditioner, B) Lighting I was thinking LED rope lighting along the middle or sides like you see in a aircraft, Outside porch and one for the ramp. Note it comes with dome light in the trailer
4) Recover wall and ceiling. What can I cover the ceiling with I saw alot of reuse of the 3/8 original wall covering stained is that the best way to go? And how was the ceiling covering attached.
5) Phase 1 Bed, cooking and seating will be all Camper equipment we already have. Cooking will be outside under canopy.

Ok so lets start Phase 1 on windows I found some windows on ebay vented 24 X 15 UNIVERSAL SLIDER WITH 1 1/2 " TRIM RING or should I get 14"x16" for 1 1/2" Walls I do know it 16" spacing on the trailer walls. Any ideas?

I read the forum last night thank you it was very eye opening I almost made a mistake I take it if I have a 16" spacing I need to make sure I order a 15" unless I want to cut some supports. I have a Mig welder so I might still get at least one larger window.

Does anyone know how many sheets of 4x8 1" foam insulation they used on their 7x14 v-nose trailer I believe i figure about 20 and that would include the ceiling.

How tall are your interior walls??? Big help figuring when that is known. How far apart are your studs?
16" on center, or 24" on center. Every cut eliminates some.
If you are buying 4' X 8' sheets then 4 / side. How wide is the wall for the "V" ...1 sheet each? How much
will be left over from the tops of each cut section when whack'em to make'em fit? How much of your
celing will be covered with the scraps and then how much to fill in the remaining???

I haven't kept tabs but it was two trips worth to Howes, probably in the same ballpark price wise. I did dual 1/2" in the walls to fill the 1" studs, and dual 3/4" in the ceiling due to 3/4" trusses. Then 3/4" overlay, fastened with wood 1x4" and In filled with 3/4" in between the wood. Covered with the luan wall/ceiling. Use a table saw to cut them it's the easiest but makes a mess. My build has some more pics/details.

ok heres my initial 2cents - Nice big trailer; and Im assuming "evolution" Harleys? You've probably already thought of this but before you do insulation plan and look at how your going to install electrical; also plumbing and water storage; oh and your in the south so consider air con and heating?; design it makes sense to have storage in the front; but there's many creative ways to do it; also consider that things weight; harlies 800lbs a piece; water 10 lbs per gallon (I think) cooler etc.

I like your AC dwgs; test out lengthening the lower counter space and even the upper cupboards; or turning it so the depth is on one 45; thus counter spaces is facing the side door; you may end up with more useful counter space.

I have a 6x10 I have lots crammed into a small space like a boat; your an air mech so you used to working with smaller spaces.

Thanks I am trying to figure out alot of things main thing is like you said too heavy 2 motorcycles approximate weight is 1400 lbs to 1500 lbs (Street glide and softtail) not good so trying to use as light and as sturdy material I can scrounge up might just be a bed, counter water filter/ gray tank and only use campground water not storing water, flat screen tv might have to pass use the tablets rest storage, Portable AC/Heater. What do you think?

Got a verification that the trailer will be ready to pick up Wednesday 17th but wont be able to pick until the 19th Friday. Then it rock on with the conversion. I am super pump up to get going and this forum has been a real eye opener and helpful. I am positive Phase one is going to be a blast. Got friends will be helping me and in return I will be helping them with their trailers. cant wait to get going

If every ounce counts, you could always skip the grey water tank and use a connection under the trailer to one of the blue roll away tanks. Or you could just make sure you have somewhere close to empty your grey water tank frequently.

Built in cabinets also can be kept much lighter than factory or even just factory fronts. 1x2s and 2x2s rather than heavier lumber etc.

Pick up the new trailer today and within 75 mile from pick up area and I had a flat tire it fell apart brand new tire. Called tire warranty and all they said they could do is ship me one as I am stuck on the highway will have pics tomorrow thank god it was a tandem limp to a tire dealer and replaced tire. Never bought anything new and was stuck the same day picking it up without the problem being fixed by a company wow on the tire company. Trailer was very nice and pulled well. Excited about converting it.
