legalizing public camping

Do you mean in municipalities?
As you are aware, that case law came from the city of Boise. In Idaho, about 60% of the land is public –USFS and BLM. I know of none of it that doesn't allow dispersed camping (for up to 14 days). So I really don't think we have a problem with "public camping" at least here.

As for immigrants, the population of employment age people in the US is shrinking. If people want to be able to retire, then we need more people to work and pay taxes. As for jobs in stem, there are many, but you may need to move to get one, and you may have to start at the bottom. This generation seems to think that you should get $100k to start, and be made director after 6 months.

That chart is exactly why we need to import a workforce. Less than 63% of the people over age 16 participate in the workforce. Part of that is that our population is aging, part of that is people that choose not to work due to various factors, including disability, attending college, or just the choice to stay home and take care of the kids, and some accept that they are satisfied with social programs and choose not to participate.
