6x14 project

Just got a smoking deal on a brand new 6x14 dressed out. The plan is for this to become a hunting rig. It already has a 30 amp service, wired and braced for rooftop AC and factory insulated roof and walls. Probably going to be picking some brains around here....

My intent on this build is to have a "hook and book" hunting cabin for me and my son. First thing on the list is going to be adding some shelving on the drivers side, about 4 1/2 feet off the floor. Next on the list is going to be converting the 4 pin to a 7 pin and installing a 12V battery to run LED lights I will be installing inside and out. I will eventually want to tie the battery system into the 30 A service so that I can have seamless power, but I think that is a little more involved than I want to get right now. Folding bunks are on the list, and by next summer I want to drop a 13500 unit on the roof for year round comfort and an axle flip to gain a few inches of ground clearance.

Nice trailer. The inside is nicer than what I normally see. The insides are usually cheap ply and dark. That white interior looks great. Personally I'd cover that roof in solar panels as well.
Not sure where you are located but there is a place in Arlington that has new take off ac units for $100.

I found it from a post here on the forum. I have a friend that I visit that want one and wa s thinking of picking one up boxing it and taking it as checked luggage...

I doubt they will ship it as its a production shop and don't want to mess with shipping. I could figure up the size and weight and see what it'd cost to ship. I plan on picking one up myself as well.

What am I missing on the electrical side? I am going to pull the two switched dome lights off the trailer wiring and run them off the battery. I am assuming I can wire the 12V hot off the 7 pin harness to the controller, but do I need some way to switch from solar to TV or will the controller handle that?

So the adoption of ATF Resolution 41P is probably going to force me to "reallocate" money from my toy fund for a while, may just start piece meaning things together... Looking forward to input.

Here is some info (opinion?) on deep cell batteries. Keep in mind this was written from a RV perspective, not solar.

As far as solar panels go, my understanding is that monocrystalline is more efficient than poly, also more expensive. I have my eye on this set up.

Also, I would give serious thought to a WFCO or Progressive Dynamics power center. With the ability to charge batteries, A/C breakers and DC fuses it gives you a lot more options and protection. IMHO.
Budgeting for one of these conversions can be complicated. Wants vs Needs etc. I have been collecting items for almost a year now, and just started the insulation phase last week. My build will be a Harley Hauler/Camper set-up with A/C, toilet/ shower combo, fridge, microwave, bar sink etc. Not easy in a 6x12 platform. Take a look on ebay for items, (new and used) and sometimes even on this forum. I scored my A/C, 2 windows, and a WFCO 8955 from this site!

Can you turn that shelf upside down so lip faces UP to help keep bins in place?? Doesn't matter how tight those bungies are, those tubs are sure to slide around.

I agree about the tubs scootin' about without anything to restrain them other then the bungees.
Try some of this under the tubs and you won't have to mess with turning the shelf upside down.

Turning it upside down was the original plan, and why I bought it with a lip, unfortunately it won't "clip" into the wall brackets when upside down. I actually have "shelf liner" otw, I am going to use a solid rubber mat that I will zip tie to the shelf, giving me a solid surface underneath the totes so I can rest small items there while not traveling.

As for the floor, the original purchase of this was specifically for the four wheelers. I already have a Harley in the garage and didn't want to give up anymore floor space. This trailer gives me a place to keep the quads and have a hook and book set up to head for the deer lease with minimal packing. I was originally going to use two horizontal rows of e-track to put shelves across at about the same height and once at camp drop down to make beds, but my unit is moving and in the hustle I acquired four cots. I am going to just paint the floor with exterior deck paint for a no skid finished surface.
