BIG Battery? Heavy equipment batteries

Postby SPLAT » Sun Feb 14, 2016 5:03 pm

The local farm store has some heavy duty equipment batteries with great prices...
Other than the size, what might be the downside?

According to the literature this battery has a reserve charge of 290 minutes reserve charge with a 25 amp draw.
Battery dimensions are 21"w x 18.5" deep 9.5" tall...

I can't read the battery label too well, but I don't see any amp-hour rating nor any indication that it's anything other than a starter battery, which is not the best for your application.

If this is for running lights, etc in a trailer when camping you should have a deep cycle battery. If that battery is being sold as a battery that would be used to start engines it is not a deep cycle battery.

This 904D battery is a starting battery according to Deka's data. It weighs 99 lbs.
It does not seem suitable. Have you determined how many AH you will need?
