Portable Camp Showers

Postby skybear4 » Fri Feb 19, 2016 8:39 am

Is anyone familiar with the Nemo Helio shower? Or how it might compare to the Zodi Extreme? I like that it's more compact, weighs far less
and has an easier on/off nozzle.

There are some reviews of both on YouTube. expeditionportal.com is also a good place for these kind of reviews.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003EEESP ... PKS767GHWN I use this shower from zodi. It came in a bag, I replaced the bag with a five gallon bucket with a gama seal lid. We drop the shower head into the bucket and heat the water to the temp we want, then shut the gas off and take a shower. One bucket full is good for two plus showers.
I like having the heater built in, heating water on the stove, then dumping it into a tank is a pain, and hard to set the temperature.
Solar heat is worthless early in the morning, or after dark.

This looked pretty interesting but we already have the Helio. Got it on sale at REI.

I like the Helio shower, had it for 2 years and many trips, lightweight, easy to use, easy to get hot water with a small funnel, and it works great for dishes, hand washing, tooth brushing, and refilling the dog bowl!

We have a shower point made by Bullfinch in the UK which connects with our water heater.

What I am looking for is a shower tent and considering the Pahaque TeePee

The Helio is good for rinsing off as stated above but the Zodi works better for actually taking a shower. We also use the Pahaque shower facility and we are very happy with it. We used the Eureka for many years and it does fine as well but the Pahaque breaks down to a much smaller bundle and goes up easier.
You can also simply heat up the water in the Zodi canister by placing it on the burner of your stove instead of using the burner that it comes with.

I bought one of these for rinsing dishes when washing.
The switch is on the pump unit, so you have to pull the pump unit out of the bucket etc. to turn off the water.

I'll be testing it at the Shasta Lake Gathering.

lets see, with you parked next to me at Shasta and Brian just west of us - I guess I'll just have to sit "Guarding" the beer, wine & Montana Margaritas while all of you test out your new showers and wait for your reviews on how they work when you are done. Well, just think if they don't work very well, neither of you will have to walk very far for a real shower considering were we will all be parked. Was this a "planned" backup plan??

Ted, I'm leaving from Shasta to continue into the Southwest and up the Front Range of the Rockies for a 4 week 3500 mile trip. If it doesn't work at Shasta, it's gonna get donated to someone else.

Brian, yes I have the Ivation.

I bought it to spray rinse water for dishwashing rather than showering. I don't think it's really going to be very convenient for showering... but I dunno.

I have to figure out what to do with 2 empty beer kegs as I travel through the southwest.
