Questions on Continental Tailwind 7x16

Postby Barfly » Wed Feb 24, 2016 1:19 am

Hello,
I recently received a 2008 Continental (TW716TA2) 7x16 dual axle cargo trailer as a gift and want to make it into a bunkhouse for camping and playing in the mountains. Is there anything specific about this brand or model that I should be aware of before I begin the planning phase of my build? I will try to get some pictures up tomorrow, when I have some light. Overall, it seems to be in really good condition. Needs cleaned up, but it tows nice, and should be alright with a bath and a new vent (original one has gotten brittle and had a branch fall on it a few weeks ago...)

In any case, any helpful information is greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Jim

Without actually seeing it, I would doubt from what you describe, that there is anything unusual regarding this model compared to any of the like CT's posted here. I believe you will find it all depends on the condition, interior height, whether it has barn or ramp doors, side door and so forth and your visions.

b4 you goto buy a replacement lid for the sky window, take a picture of the hinge along the leading edge of the plastic cover

the new covers are pretty universal but have several hinge assemblies to choose from

also, some manufacturers offer a lifetime guaranteed product for a few extra bucks

buying stuff like this @ CAMPING WORLD will give you a broader source of service, if needed

another also, keep the box lid in your files for future reference/replacement needs

HAVE FUN

Barfly, Howdy;

Welcome to the forum!

Continental is a division of Forrest River RV co. you might do well to make an
inquiry to them as to which brand of hatch they used during that time frame.
Might help, might not ... won't hurt to ask.

Everything seems pretty solid. I have used it a few times to haul stuff, and it tows nice and the floor is nice and strong. The trailer has barn doors and standard cargo trailer side door. The height inside at the peak is approximately 6'. I was busy today and forgot to get some pictures taken. Will hopefully be able to do so on Friday, as I will be out of town tomorrow.

Thanks.

Thanks to both of your for the suggestions on the vent cover. I was looking online today at Amazon and there are many options. It didn't occur to me at first that I would be able to simply replace the cover and had been looking at new vent assemblies. I will see what I can find out from the manufacturer and there is a Camping world on my way home from work.
