Sharon, don't know if you have and use a canopy but we dry our towels from the shower on part of the internal frame of our canopy.
I'd imagine you could convert it into a laundry drying apparatus with some creative roping.
It doesn't get direct sun exposure but it will keep your drying laundry from offending any trees.

We also use ez up while camping to dry clothes, even with canopy on top it works well, two ropes with hooks across the canopy is all that is needed. It can take a big load of laundry.
And when we are back home we may just use it without canopy to save electricity and go pure solar :).
Here is a picture illustration, as we are all like pictures:

Washing machine without electricity.

But there is a washing method is much easier, does not require any extra costs and preparation. I myself am so washed my clothes, when I worked at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
If you can not wash the thing in the machine, you will need a simple plastic bag.
We conducted an experiment, poured on a white T-shirt Zelenka, red wine and try to wash it using a standard plastic bag. We put the shirt in the package.
We need soap, it may be lumpy soap, but then it must nastrogat or liquid soap or laundry detergent. Adding or soap powder package and then the package is poured into water. It is necessary that thing floating in the water, so pour more water and tie the package.
Per liter of water should at least 100 grams of powder. Shake the bag, wrinkle it, upside down. In this package, the thing can be left on for several hours to wash off inveterate stains.
Zelenka and wine to wash. Our experiment confirmed this. In the same way, you can erase long-standing spot. Things with old spots we had washed in a regular washing machine, in a basin with his hands and with the help of the package.
When you usually wash your hands stain remains, and machine and package coped with spots easily.

What did people do about their “laundry” before the Laundries , soap, etc. was invented ??? The Old days ... aside from going down to the stream and beating them with a rock ...

I've heard of 'boiling' clothes in old stories I've read. I don't know the process but a picture showed a large tub on a wood fire with a stirring paddle.

That surely would disinfect them eh Tom ??? Not always practical for a TD or TTT ...

My wife’s idea of doing Laundry on the road is to shop her way through camping , just putting all the dirty clothes in a large bag to be laundered at home ... We dare not go to “Laundromats" around here , one could be easily robbed or murdered ... :o

Yes, in the Soviet Union, every family had a special "bucket" of about 3-5 gallons. All boiled the laundry. My mom was boiling the white clothes, shirts ... When washing machines became available, it is no longer necessary. Now it is doing very, very rare.

As seasoned travelers (old) / evacuees , we always have prepared a list of many friends or relatives we can visit with along the way , all coincidentally having washing machines , and dryers .. :o Our friends enjoy my Cooking... and while I cook for them , I’m doing my Laundry in their machines ... Works out great for everybody , Laundry done , everybody gets a Great meal (perhaps a glass of wine or two) ,some small talk , and then we’re gone ... pfffft!!! Now then , I’ve shared my secret ... I guess you’ll all be doing it ... ??? :D Just network with your friends and relatives... Easy !!!

We've done that for years ourselves...
Makes for a nice visit and I can't go
near or use a laundromat.

Way back when my parents , some cousins & my girlfriend (eventually my wife) and I went canoeing for a week. One of the best memories out of so many on that trip was beaching our canoes, hauling our laundry up in to town & getting clean clothes. We did the essentials, had a few more laughs, did a little shopping & got back on the water a couple of hours later.
