I don't think this thread was started as a debate, but as a poll?

I am a fan of the National Parks...they are located in some of the most beautiful parts of the United States. I think the admission fees are reasonable when you consider all there is to see and do. Maybe some of the parks are very crowded but the ones I have been to didn't seem crowded, probably because they are so big. I was in Yellowstone three years ago during the busiest time of year, and with the exception of Old Faithful and other big attractions, I felt pretty much alone. When it comes to camping, NFS or BLM land cannot be beat for those of us who don't need or want all the hookups. :)

Perhaps I should have chosen a different title for the post, maybe: "If you are a fan of national parks, check out this show and this website!" At the very least I'm glad to keep teardrop camping visible to the public!

I live just 45 mins away from Yosemite NP and 90 mins away from Yosemite valley. I love the park and visit it often but I always camp somewhere beyond the park boundaries in order to escape the crowds.

I'm a fan and over the past several years have made several teardrop trips across the US to visit many of them. This summer it will be Glacier and Devils Tower. I don't find the campgrounds crowded or unreasonably priced, especially compared to most private or KOA-like places.

In my travels across the country I do try to stay in state and national parks or forests (of BLM land) when I can and use private campgrounds as a last resort.
Some of the more popular places are harder to get into to camp if you just show up in high season or on a weekend, and for those places I do make reservations way in advance. Otherwise I just show up and hope for the best which has always worked out. If a place is full I can go somewhere else nearby if needed - that's what RVParky is for...
