Check with St. Andrews State Park and Raccoon River if your wanting to camp. The wife and I booked a room 6 months back, not knowing that we were going to build our trailer. Thunder Beach is one of the few big rallies I attend. Normally instead of rallies we just takeoff and go north up to Blue Ridge, the Smokies, Helen, Suches or the Dalonegah area and ride. I've already got two trips booked for up north so far, the state HOG rally in Hiawassee in September and a 4 day ride on the Parkway, basing out of Iron Horse Lodge in August.

How'd your build go this weekend?

Those are day trips for us.Except for blue ridge and and deals gap. But the Hog rally I really need to go.Also stayed at Iron horse need to do it again . Love deal gap and Hwy 28 and 129 area. Is the Hog rally packed and where do you stay for that one? Sturgis is the plan for the trailer I really want to go next year. I moved here from Daytona so not that interested in Bike week maybe Bikefest which I believe is still in October.

As of right now we've got a room booked for the HOG rally in Murphy NC, so we'll be away from traffic but only a 20mile ride over to the rally. If I get the trailer finished or close to completion I'm going camp up at Vogel state Park and cancel my room in Murphy. Same here, love Deals Gap, the Cherohala Skyway, Hwy 28 and US129. I've run the Gauntlet (Cherohala, Dragon's Tail and the Moonshiners Trail) in one day. We've got plans to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, both North and South before fall, using Iron Horse as our base camp if all goes well.
Sturgis is going to have to wait a little longer for me or I'll have to change jobs one. The summer is my busiest time of the year in the AC business and I can't take more than 6 days off in a row that time of the year.

Nice I think I should talk with the SWMBO and see if we can make the rally and camp. That would be a great way to start getting ready for fall riding.

Looks good so far Chief. Your cabinets in the front look similar to the layout I've got planned for the front V-nose on mine. I'm headed to Home Depot here shortly to get the luan panels for the ceiling, then I can start on cabinets.

I tell this to everybody so it gets boring... but important. Keep the bikes tied in so the tongue stays heavy. It's like a dart, a trailer needs to have the weight forward or it wants to turn around. Even a tiny bit more weight behind the wheels than up front will wag the trailer and you'll loose it on the highway.

Tongue weight should total approx. 15% of trailer net ( loaded) wt. In my case net 2990, tongue wt. =448lbs.
Good info to have when planning for location of things like generators, batteries, propane and water tanks.
I am trying to keep the Harley basically centered over the axle (single axle, single bike) and use the other heavy items to achieve the proper balance/ tongue wt. You will notice how your A/C is cleverly located directly above the axels... just sayin'...

OK great. Ill weigh the tongue when I am done then when I load the bikes ill know where to put them and place the wheel chocks in that place so it will be easier to load.

Not much to show this week I laminated the counter top wired the main shore plug and made the cabinet doors. Got one more cabinet door and microwave shelf then finish up the front, just steadily moving forward.
