I was waiting for your review, Elm! Glad you liked it!

We even had Red Robin up in Brooklyn.
Here we go again!

It isn't to often a cartoon can almost bring tears to you eyes!

First time I heard of Red Robin was about a year ago, so I assumed they were somewhat a new chain and not to well known. My favorite there is the 5 alarm burger, at least when I am not being heath oriented.

It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

I see that you're from Wisconsin. We also have Culver's here, they make a good burger too. It has probably changed now but, the "Locations" map showed tons in your area, but only 2 outside of it. The 2 we have here in town.

I just looked at the map, it looks like they are spreading out.

I know Culver's started down in southern Wisconsin somewhere. I think by Whitewater. They only been around I want to say 10 or so years. How can you go wrong when your #1 seller is called the Butter Burger! I'm not sure about the quality anymore, we have 4 or so in the area, but haven't been there for awhile.

Just got back from Wally World and picked up some more "Cars" things. I now have the video game for the computer and a box of Kleenex.

Pixar Had a contract to make 5 major picts for Disney and after the third I heard they we're at odds over marketing rights and such. The relationship was so bad that Pixar broke off talks to make anymore picts after the 5 and Disney started it's own CGI group that made "Chicken Little". But the issue of marketing rights for the Pixar movies was still an issue, so I guess they thought it would be easier to just buy them out instead of fighting.

The crash of "the king" is a frame by frame recreation of Rusty's big crash from a few years ago. Petty's crash at Daytona, he took out part of the fense along the way.

It was a fun movie on a variety of levels.

Having spent 3 weeks traveling with the family on Route 66 & stopping at the ghost towns as well as the tacky/touristy attractions, it made it more interesting to watch. My son even picked out some things we had seen along the way that were in the movie.

I liked how the rock landscape/background in Radiator Springs was in the shape of Cadillac Ranch, shown on the map in the movie as "Cadillac Range." Also, all the hood ornaments, also shown on the map as "Ornament Valley."

And as asianflava said, do stay for the credits, they are worth it...and as in all of Pixar's films, there is a "short" after the credits...kind of funny, actually.

Betsey--wasn't the short BEFORE the movie? The one with the little girl and the two competing one-man bands?

I'm curious.

Ira,

Well, yes, the true "short" was before the movie...at the end there's an extra "bit" where the Mr. & Mrs. Minivans from the Midwest turn up again. A bit of a jab in reference to the Mr. Minivan not wanting to use a map, having instead relied upon his GPS...

Elmer, make sure you sit through all of the final closing credits, and keep your eye out for the "Dedicated to" thing. Someone died not too long ago, car accident, who did voices in a few Pixar pics.

Ira you were the one that told me to stay for all the credits!!! :R

It was pretty funny! Now you are gonna have to go see it again!

My girlfriend and I saw it last night. Definately not just a kid's movie. Too much cool stuff from the past. Not that I'm much of a movie critic, but I give it a big "two thumbs up". Can't wait until it comes out in the video stores. I want to be able to freeze frame and back up so I can check things out more closely. Great movie, that's for sure.
Chris :D

The tension between what is good enough and what is beyond that creates the space for character to become our work.

Elmer, I stayed through all of the clips where they showed prior Pixar characters as cars, but I thought that was it. You mean they rolled more credits, and played another short when it totally ended, or WHILE the credits were rolling?

That's the thing, Chris--they're making so many of these movies for the parents TOO. And thank God!

The two Shreks are total masterpieces, as are the Toy Stories.

The split screen thing was screwing me up a little because I was trying to make sure I didn't miss anything, especially since I was told to pay attention, but it was the very last thing before lights came on.

I know I wil see it again because we have a drive-in theater a little ways down the road and right before it goes into the budget theaters it will be there. I load up the wife and kids into the 1970 Blazer (no top) and head out. It's a good cheap night out and the 2 year old isn't causing to much hate and discontent to the other viewers. And the dog can go also.

Elmer out

By the way the dog weighs about 90 more lbs now than the avitar picture.
