Degrees of rotation for HH

What is the maximum angle you can open a hurricane hinge before it unhooks itself? Most examples look to max out at 90* before they come undone. is this correct?

The hurricane hinge slides together (male to female) from the ends so it won't come apart when lifted up in the open position.
The sample piece I have opens to a maximum of 60 or 30 degrees depending which side of a protractor your looking at.
In real life the degree can look quite different depending on the slope of the teardrop roof.

Danny, because I'm tall it might be necessary for me to open my hatch more than 90 deg from the original closed position. I'd hate to have my hatch fall apart at that point. Looks like I'll need to get a sample from Frank Bear.

A sample is a good idea, if they offer one.
My sample is from trimming a longer than needed hinge to length.

Don't know what tall is to you but one of my teardrops was owned for several years by someone who is 6' 8" tall and he didn't have a problem.
Going with 15" wheels will also help get the lid up there where you want it.

The prob is more with the shape of the hatch. The bottom will hang down a bit.
