What I get for winter storage

Postby dreadcptflint » Thu Mar 31, 2016 12:28 pm

38000

After 8 years of being a happy teardropper, I got the call two days ago. I stored our trailer in at a local fairgrounds for $150 for 6 months. The building that it was stored in collapsed. I know at the very least, my solar panel will be toast. :x :x It took my wife an I nearly a year to find a good trailer to fit our needs. I am hoping that we will get lucky but if not I have to go shopping so that we can hit the road this summer. :D

Ouch...

It seems as if the owner of the building would be responsible for damages though, right?

So sorry to hear about your "accident." :( One of the main reasons I got my TD was to be able to park it in the garage beside my car. Storage here is at least $30/month if you are not in a covered space. Hope things are fixable for you :eyebrows:

Most likely not. Unless the building owner was legally liable for the collapse of the building or had a policy that would cover that type of loss, the trailer owner will have to turn to his/her insurance company (provided it was insured) for coverage.

You may be surprised at how little damage you have; but, you won't know until you see it. If you can, will you please post pictures?
One of the little thought of advantages of a teardrop or tiny trailer is its size when something like this happens. The other bigger trailers may have taken the brunt of roof cave-in, sheltering yours to a certain extent. If you were near an outside wall, that might help, too. Best Wishes....

Hope all is well when you get there.
Was it at the Chelan County Fairground in Cashmere?
We would love to have you join the PNW Tear Jerkers and camp with us this upcoming season.
