Grill question

Postby booyah » Tue Mar 29, 2016 12:51 pm

So, I'm looking for a portable gas grill to use with my TD...

Looking at the Weber Q 1200, or the Coleman Road Trip LXE.

Anyone have thoughts on these? Own one or both? Use em?

Any others that should be considered?

Looking to add a gas grill to my camp outings, and these both seem to be a happy place, but I'm not sure which to go with.

Thanks
My build, 5x8 modified benroy "Smiles to go". Started April 2nd 2015, first trip August 2nd 2015.

We have Nexgrill https://www.nexgrill.com/product/nexgrill-2-burner-table-top-portable-grill that I picked up at Costco for $100. It is set up with a gas point in the side of the trailer and a 10' hose. We use it at home as well through out the year.

Have not used it yet. It will also be used on my lower deck.

I use a Coleman Max - it's small and works fine for 1 or 2 people. It also called a 'All-in-One' being it has a grill/griddle and a burner and all fits under the lid engaging together as one. Like I said it is small, cooking surface is 100 square inches which is about half the size of the small Weber 1000 you spoke of which I also think is great grill but was just to large for what I was looking for. Mine fits in the back of my tear on the kitchen prep table surface when I travel. New mine was just under a $100.

We picked up a small bbq at Wal Mart for about $20 when we started camping in our Midget. 12 years later we were camping last week and the regulator gave out. During the 12 years I only had to replace a rusted out heat diffuser. We went to Wal Mart and found another for $18. Looks like another 12 years ahead of camping and grilling.

I just bought this grille at Bi-Mart yesterday. I'm impressed by the build quality. I'll report back after a trip or two as to it's durability.

I've owned both, the Webber is the better of the two and my favorite. Just wish it was more compact like the coleman.

I had the webber before I built my first tear, sized the hatch to perfectly trap the webber for travel. We bring the webber everywhere, even canoe camping, you just can't beat the flavor and perfect cooking.
Our webber is used mostly at home, currently it is ten years old. Other than grease pans it is still all original.
It didn't come with a thermometer, a drill fixed that.

Boy I kind of wish I had seen these comments about the Weber Grills before I got my Cabelas unit. Even though I have not used mine yet, I like what I saw on the Webers when I "googled" it tonight. The price is almost twice what I paid, but it looks better, I think.

Bought the O-Grill as it appears to be a better built unit and folds down easily to fit in it's carrying bag.

I got the webber to avoid having to buy a new grill every year or two.
The cast iron grill in the webber makes for perfect food every time, as long as you follow the directions on heat and time. This isn't a grill you stand over, instead you shut the lid and set a timer. This keeps the juices in, and intensifies the flavor
