This was my uncles for the last 27 or so years I remember going on holidays with them as a kid. I had to sleep in the back of the jeep they had as there was no room in the teardrop for me lol . Him and his wife put many miles on the old girl. They bought it from a friend in the area. Not sure about anything farther back than that. It used to be adorned with many hand painted decals, one of which you can still see on the Door window. It's in pretty good shape. No major rust anywhere. We're so excited to get started on it.

We hope to have it done by fall so it can go on its maiden voyage with us.

Very cool story, nice that you can keep her in the family. You finally made it to the adult table, moving from the Jeep into the trailer. Have fun restoring her and getting her back on the road.

Not sure how to even do it right lol. We want to keep the outside as original as possible. Got a lead on lights and it will definitely need a new window on the other side, but have found some that look almost like original. Thinking we may have to insulate and put something on the walls on the inside it's all bare aluminium. There are no supports on the inside roof and because of that it had caved this winter but thankfully popped out with very minimal damage. The galley is all in not to bad shape. The original stove is there but is way to damaged to keep. And a bag of salt left inside on the shelf ate through the aluminum but we will see what we can do to fix that.

original pieces for patterns are.....everything!
Material is material.....and if you have all of the original stuff, and you want to replicate it??? You can have a brand new original trailer.

If you want to keep things as original as possible, you might try, checking out this site. http://tincantourists.com/blog/ All they do are vintage trailers.

Very nice little Modernistic, there, Mandy ... ...! One like that is what started me on this teardrop odyssey over 32 years ago! As others have said, keeping yours as original as possible would be a great way to go, as these things are getting fewer and farther between ... adding insulation and some thin wood paneling was something many customers did with theirs from the very beginning, so will not really affect the "originality" that much (as long as you are thoughtful with your materials choices). I don't visit here very often any more, but I'll be looking in occasionally to see & follow your progress! Good Luck, and as always ...

Thank you grant. I will try and keep up one the progress. We were able to have a better look inside the galley yesterday and upon closer inspection looks to be in worse shape then we thought. It will have to be stripped out but we will be putting it back in with the exact foot print. Our minds keep bouncing back and forth as to what to do with everything lol. Don't want to change to much. But will have to add some modern touches to make the space as useable as possible.
