1960s Australian Teardrop

Ok, I figured out how to post pics, whew! I was surfing the web and found this teardrop. I think it's totally cool. Plywood goes over the floor when on the road. I think it would be a neat build but how would one keep the back of the trailer stable on the road?

Neat, A cross between a teardrop ,wild goose and a standy. It has a classic look or could be make as a raindrop.
Look like a 6 wide with a full size bed. I have seen apartments with smaller kitchens.. With some curtains you could even have a stool on one side
I would arch the galley wall and the floor opening to make it stable. If done as a raindrop with feet to the front you could reduce the with to 5 wide.

I just thought of a problem with that design. BUGS
With that floor opening you will be covered with bugs at night.

Kenneth, one could build in a sliding door to the sleeping area.
I was more worried about animals getting into the kitchen and eating all the food at night, lol.

I am not poo-pooing the design. Just pointing the +&-. I like the design and if I didn't all ready have a extra camper I would look at building it.

Pluses
All most a standy but low profile.
Big galley
Can get a snack at night without getting dressed.
Rain cover over galley
May be able to cook inside if it is cold outside
Rain cover when putting on shoes.
No side doors to leak.
No costly side doors.
If you round the front and reverse the bed you can mount a tv inside the front wall and watch it when cooking.
Room for a bathroom
Room for a shower.
Could be made with foam and canvas.


Minis
lifting the galley lid when exiting.
Very big galley and exit door.
Bug and animals getting in
Floor panel to move(+use on the ground as floor with canvas side panels ? )
A little harder to build
Harder to make the bed
Maybe harder to get in and out of bed.
Under floor storage may be hard to get at
With retro front has to be 6 feet wide(cant see past it)
With retro front maybe harder to tow.
With retro front you will be crawling over your camp mate.

+ - You would be doing a lot of show and tell.
This is just some things to think about.

I love that retro front look.
I think if I were to build this I would put one door on the passenger side for easy in and out when the hatch is down.
I think that hatch would be very heavy being a six wide. Good pros and cons list!
