Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

I'm out of control...
I had no idea Cargo Craft was building these, perfect setup for a Jeep. Consider finding your local Cargo Craft dealer show them the pics and video and get a quote out of Georgia.

That's pretty cool compared to what you would pay for a typical "adventure" trailer:

I think I want one of those too!

I have a 5x10 that I pull with a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited, also with a 2000 pound limit. Recently took a 2000 miles round trip to Texas and I would NOT want to tow a 6x12.

I have a 6x12, 2990 gvwr that I pull with a GMC 2500 Vandura 5.7l and while stability, braking and maneuvering are no problem, I swear it feels like a parachute holding me back at any speed over 65-70. Not heavy, just a ton of air resistance.
Vans are not real aerodynamic to start with, like a shoebox. But a shoebox pulling a parachute just gets old in a hurry.

Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback! I know I'll have more questions but here is what I think I'm going to start with:

vnose
2 windows installed by manufacturer
roof vent
rear barn doors
side door with rv style lock/handle
no insulation - I will do this myself
i'll ask the manufacturer to not attach the inner plywood so that I don't have to remove it when I do the wiring and insulation
I'm going to have the ceiling height dropped so it will fit in my garage. main reasons are I can work on it at home anytime. and I wont have to pay storage. I think min internal height will be 5 ft.
you guys mentioned a couple of different brands that have tube construction that makes a more ridge wall design...I've got a set of quotes from one already so going to try and still with that design.
for color think i'll go with black to match my jeep - figure in summer its going to get hot as blazes anyway and I'm going to be adding an AC anyway.

As far as size still debating. I'll post a build thread when I get started. I really appreciate all the input.

Sounds like you're off and running, welcome to the madness.

-Interior trim work: best thing I did was buy an inexpensive pneumatic stapler. (already had the air compressor in the garage) Hitachi at Lowe's. It made re-installing the trim pieces a breeze. I also built my roof to wall panel covers with it, and I've used that stapler countless times on other projects since, can't believe I went all that time without one.

-Consider offsetting the windows, it lets in light in a normally darker interior, and creates a great crossflow if you put in a vent fan in the roof. I credit member Gonefishin with this idea, and it has been a winner.

-On the reduced ceiling height, another user dealt with a low ceiling garage height by making small diameter steel circle plate rims to allow the taller trailer to get into the garage, then simply swapped to the standard wheels/tires once it was outside. By doing this he kept his interior trailer height. Spend a little time reading through this one for inspiration: (member pmspirito)

-Still one of my favorites, simple, neat, well thought out, retro colors on re-purposed cabinets, I borrowed lots of ideas from this one: (member WA)

Of course this place is full of inspiration, so much so, many times there's just too much to wade through and keep up with.

With that said, here's some Jeep-related builds for your viewing pleasure if you haven't already found them. (Don't forget coffee and a legal pad for notes)

Thanks for bringing up those two threads... I had missed those in my previous readings.

Here is my input, I'm newby as well. I bought an all aluminum trailer from Michigan. I live in Kentucky and I purchased this trailer directly from the manufacturer. They built it to my specks. And I absolutely love it. I am in the process of Building a handicap cargo trailer, my daughter in a wheelchair. The price I paid for my trailer was about the same price for a steel trailer in my local area. Best of all no tax, that helps out a lot.. The only thing I had to go get it.. But believe me it was worth it…
