Actual weight of Harbor Freight trailer ?

Postby rustytoolss » Tue Apr 19, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi, I'm new here. Thanks for letting me join your group. :) I'm thinking of building a small trailer. Chances are that it will be a "standee", see that I'm learning the lingo already. I've lurked the site for a while, and saw a post saying that the shipping weight for a harbor freight trailer was 260lbs. Does anyone know what the actual weight is ? If I build, weight is a concern. Need to stay at or under 1000 lbs, I'm also thinking of finding a popup frame, as I would like to build about 6' 6" wide x 8-10 long (not the standard 5x8).
I'm sure I will learn a lot here, Oh I'm from New Franklin, Ohio

258 lbs, the boxes weight is less than two pounds. There is nothing else in there!

My 40" by 48" HF frame weighs 150 lbs, per my bathroom scale. My 6 ft by 40 inch wooden "Stacker", by weighing just the trailer without the frame, is 95 lbs. Therefore, my little teardrop only weighs a total of 245 lbs, empty. Woo Hoo. I love it, it's kind of like just having a large person sitting in the back seat, when I'm going down the road. So far, 3 HF trailer frames, no problems, ever.

Roly,I have built eight on them! Except for two broken tail light lens cracked (they replaced) no problems whatsoever. Just make sure you guys clean and pack bearings! The one I got last week has the newer LED tail lights, super bright!

Unless you are planning a foamie, building a standy under 1,000 lbs is going to be a serious challenge.
