First time foamy build

Thanks for the advice! Ya I've been thinking about that. Just bought the canvas so I'll do some measuring and adjust before I go to much further..

How much of a gap would you recommend? I measured 2 layers of canvas, the piece of Tmold I'm going to attach there and added a little for paint and error and figure a centimeter should do it?

Got some more done yesterday! The roof isn't going to hang over like that I just hadn't cut it flush yet..
The boards are screws thru the foam into the rafters for clamps. They'll get takin off of course.

Joe, you may have hit on a good idea there , leaving a bit of the roof on the edge to act as a drip edge over the door ....

This is just about how I want to do mine. Did you have to kerf the 3/4" foam or did it just bend? The temp boards holding the foam together is very clever. Looks great!

I just bent it.. I think that's about as tight as it would bend tho..

We really need to discuss heat bending foam !!! The thinner foam not only bends easily with heat , but stays in that shape when cooled , so no spring back or stresses induced by the materials memory ...

I originally thought that I would use a heat gun to apply heat while bending it but tested it and it was actually fairly easy to bend so I didn't.. What do you think about heating some after its bent and glued down? Just to "set" it and keep the memory stress off? If I have a problem with it I think I'll try that but no problems with it pulling itself up so far..

Joe , all depends what works for you .... We’re always trying to find a better way to utilize Foam for these campers ...

Cool table /rest ... Did you waterproof the wood with the Mix yet ? Plan to ??? I like your gusset reinforcing the vertical post !!

I figured I would just paint it.. I've seen references to the mix but I'm not exactly sure what it is?

The “mix" is a wood treatment made of 75% Mineral Spirits , and 25% Polyurethane varnish (cheaper the better) , It’s applied prior to priming and painting and helps seal all the pores in the wood to prevent water intrusion = ROT !!! You can even apply it at this building stage because it won’t interact with foam or TB2 . The ideal is to slobber on several coats till the wood won’t take anymore (gets shiny) , let that then dry and prime/paint and it’ll be good for a long time ... Untreated wood is susceptible to the first leak that comes along , or even our infamous humidity ... If I forget to treat wood here , I end up regretting it ...

Funny , this is how this all got started ... with “the mix” .
