San Diego Lightweight Toy Hauler / Man Cave

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

A Fantastic Fab with the cover is pretty inexpensive if you get the basic reversing model and no thermostat.
I have had one in 6 different trailers and NEVER had water inside at all and have been through some impressive storms too!

So for me it is the ability to save a lot of money and have a great fan with no chance of water entry not even melting snow!

If I needed to fit in a shorter space with a trailer I might get something lower profile but otherwise I don't understand paying that much more for a fan?

I got my fan on Amazon for $175 shipped, thought it was a good deal. I got it for $100 less than the local RV place here.

That is a good deal,I will have to look into Amazon for one too!

I just stuck the cheap cover on my cargos non fan vent for this weekend and I am not excited at the prospect of not having the fan at all.

Of all of the things we stick in our trailers the roof vent fan is probably my most used.

Anyone have any ideas on how to attach the wood frame to the roof joists?

When I got my CT it had the simple vent installed. 14x14 inside dim. x 1" . they had tacked a piece of 1/8 paneling at each edge and just wedged it between roof and roof bow. The real purpose of the frame appears to be to sandwich it between outer roof and finished ceiling. Also gives something for screws from outside to bite into. For my A/C I welded in 1" square tube that was welded to the roof supports.
You could just use 90 deg. brackets and screws from the frame to the roof supports. Once all the screws are in from the outside, it's not goin' anywhere.

Got the roof vent / fan installed today. I love the low profile. I actually had to stand across the yard in order to see it when it los down. I also solved my bracket issue by making some custom ones from aluminum L-brackets.

And guess what showed up while I was installing the roof vent...

I absolutely love my new Windows, with that said I have two 22" x 44" sliders w/screens for super cheap if you live in the San Diego area. Just PM me.

PaulzOx, Howdy;

Hopefully, you install them with the rectangular cut-outs at the bottom ... those are weep-holes
(in your photo they are in the upper position), to allow water to drain out. I know, ... in San Diego
it never rains , but you do intent to wash it every once-in-awhile ... right?

Hahaha thanks Hank, I do intend to wash it sometimes. I will make sure the weep holes are at the bottom. Not sure why but the picture is upside down.

Installed one window today, was not that bad actually. Took longer than expected mostly because I had to figure everything out... Tomorrow should go a lot faster.

Excellent looking installation. Your build is coming along nicely.

Works perfect for my driveway and I got a huge discount on it because it was a factory order mess up.

I actually plan on putting in a curb side door further down the road (year or so).

Gotcha, a lot of things I do start with getting a smoking deal on something!!!
