Well I found a real antique of a 9" spyder skillet with its mated lid at Good will while down visiting Mom in Kentucky.

inside was a bit rough. Looked like it had been use for humidifier pot.

Gate mark has me guessing late 1890 to 1910. ( Better guesses are welcomed )

I'm anxious to see how it turns out. I've never heard of using coke in cast iron to clean it up. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
