Hunter Compact Jr

Postby Talia62 » Tue Jun 07, 2016 8:33 am

So...apparently I am the new owner of a 1972 Hunter Compact Jr. fiberglass trailer. It's sitting three states away from me, so I'll have to go pick it up and drag it home. It looks to be in reasonable condition, no glass broken, new tires including spare, though the interior is that fabulous 1970s upholstery chic (ew, thank goodness I have sewing skills!). The seller says it's roadworthy, that the lights work, and that there shouldn't be any issues towing it a long distance. From the pictures he's sent, I expect he's being truthful to the best of his knowledge, but being a safety-minded person who tries to avert problems before they happen, I figured I'd ask here what kind of things I should bring along as a just-in-case kit. So far, here's what I have come up with:

Spare trailer light set
Bearing grease and the tools to remove bearings
12v air pump
Duct tape!
Ratchet straps
Floor jack
Jack stands
PB Blaster
Big-ass lug wrench
Basic tools like socket set, vise grips, etc

Any advice would be welcome. This is my first trailer of any kind other than a small garden utility trailer, so I will entertain any words of wisdom sent my way. Thanks everyone!

Oh, great call on the laser temp gauge! I hadn't thought of that one.
