My Evil Plan

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Hey Chief,
Glad to see you have the lift situation "put to bed", so to speak. I really believe you can have a more reliable system that way than with springs or struts.
So, you made some real progress on that trailer once you got rolling. It looks very tidy and well executed. I noticed you opted for no windows, as have I. I guess there will be some light from the bathroom vent dome, but the door will probably be shut most of the time, so that wont really help. How do you plan to deal with the total darkness day or night? I have lots of lighting, but it might be strange to wake up and not be able to see. Or know if its day or night. I did get 4 peepholes to install, 1 in man door, 1 in ramp, 1 in each wall, so you should be able to reach 1 of them take a look. I also will have a volt/amp/clock meter that is backlit so there will be a little blue light from that. Something you may want to look into, I ran across a set of solar string lights at wally world for about 10.00 and have been playing around with them. They actually last like 10-12 hrs on a day charge. They were about 12 ft of lights so you light a pretty good area. They aren't real white bright so I think they wont be a problem if left on all night inside and will help a lot with the late night navigation issue.
You could cut them or split them whatever, but I like the idea of it coming on auto when the sun goes down and recharging all day independent of the trailer electrical system. It has a tiny panel that I put on the roof and about 5' of lead before the first light. It could come in handy and the price was right. Also, I have a motion sensing porch light that will be nice when coming in late and "groggy".
OK, Well, good job on that trailer, and enjoy your trip. You deserve it.
Be Safe.

I have purchase a door window to help with the awareness of day night. My exhaust fan is not installed ran out of time but it will be in the wall next to the porta potty and will draw it out to the outside so it will be hidden. Sometime you wish you had more time but I ran out but very excited about the test run. Taking a pad and paper to write the corrections and changes that will make camping and loading the motorcycle easier.

Here is the stats for the first trip in my 7x14 Evil Plan CT.
Total miles towed: 1750 miles from GA to Curry Hammock Marathon FL
Average MPG: 9 towed
Average speed 70 mph with Ram 1500 4.7 v 8
Loaded with 2 Harley 1550 lbs plus camping equipment around with conversion 300 lbs so close to 1850 not including trailer weight
Pour approximately 5 gals of home brew from tap
Slept in the trailer 8 days.. Bed worked great want to modify to make it easier to lower.
Air conditioning: Coleman Mach 3 worked great ran everyday average temp was high 80 s and low 90s
Water system: Failed due to operator forgot to install pressure regulator blow line within 20 minutes when we hooked up to the campsite water supply
It was a great trip and now ready to do some adjustments and add more comfort items. :applause:

chiefairwrench, Howdy;

Good news about the shake-down cruise. Sorry about the water system. Did some of the
'regular RVers' give you some sound advise about water pressure regulators? Specifically,
install it at the faucet/bib, between the hose and the water system, hint, hint, hint ...
These are inexpensive and can be found at Wal-Mart http://www.walmart.com/ip/Camco-Brass-W ... r/14504323

Sounds like you had a great time. How did your roof top AC work out?
