Ok...others here are talking about using them and you for one have used them. Just used the search feature and could not locate one other I thought was using them. Ok?

Has anyone used the little tower ac units. Its what I was planning on using. The little emergency kind for your house when the main ac goes out. Has 4 inch flex duct to go outside.
Better to bring it and not need it...that whole thing.

I gotta admit it's great using this forum, you don't even need to read it anymore. Just pop in your question & out pops an answer. Right answer - wrong answer ? Does it really matter when your just looking for a fast & easy answer ?

Sometimes I feel bad for those who have spent countless hours documenting their efforts with endless details. Sometimes I feel bad having comitted those same offenses of adding boring information on topics no one wants to be overloaded with useless details.

If only I had known.

I'll have to get back with you later with links, but most experiences with portable air conditioners for cooling cargo trailers have not been good.

The issue with the "portable" units is they typically have only a vent for the condenser exhaust, and no outside intake for it. Same issue as having a window unit mounted flush at the back: It draws the inside air that was just cooled and dumps it back outside. That air needs to be replaced somehow so you then need to draw hot outside air back in the cabin area. Doesn't make much sense as it is a much less efficient way of cooling. So you need a bigger unit in order to get the same (or less) cooling and use more power doing it.

Hey Pleiades,
Well played. :applause:

Also, I think Drew has it right. The same issue exists for fridges. You're really just pumping the heat around in circles, if you don't get rid of it, and isolate the condenser from the cabin interior.

I don't have an air conditioner of any kind in my CT, so I can't help you with an experienced answer. But I can help a little with searching.

I have found the best way to search this site is by using the Google Advanced Search Function https://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en&authuser=0

Google Advanced has a field at the bottom of the search page where you can write in the "site or domain". If you type tnttt.com into that field, all of the answers it returns will be from here. For example I typed the site in and then searched for ---- air conditioner split. This is what it returned:
