Thumbbilly:

That's one sweeeeet trailer you have there. With the size of your 2 toys, I'm really curious as to what your finished camping setup will look like.

Have fun!

When used for camping, it will only be with one toy. I am building a fake wall for inside the front ramp door to mount a window a/c unit......should be a fun work in progress!!

Looks really nice! :applause:  :applause:

Do you mind a few questions, please? What material is the wall/ceiling panels - aluminum, FRP? How are the panels attached to the framing? What is used to cover the panel seems - aluminum strap?

Thank you and keep up the good work.

The panels are luan board (flooring underlayment) They are attached with self drilling screws. The wall seems are aliminum joints stuck to trailer with adhesive from the factory, ceiling is 1inch x 1/8 inch flat aluminum with screws thru it.

Great rig! Can you tell us where you purchased your trailer and what brand?

The brand is Lightning. I purchased it thru Swartz Trailer Sales in Michigan. The trailer was built in Indiana.

Removable interior wall is mounted and air conditioner is functional. Just open ramp door and turn it on.

Front Ramp Room

Postby CaptD » Sun Jun 26, 2016 12:11 pm

Like your idea. I'm doing almost the same thing with a wall/bulkhead going widthwise. Window A/C mounted up high (in a window so I can just use the window when cool out) and propane heater installed below. Run a closet rod across to hang wet clothes to dry out, propane storage locker, spare tire, jack and safety cones, car wash items, ladder, leveling blocks, folding chairs, mat for under canopy, grill. Install a 12v bug light (yellow) and don't forget about making use of that front ramp. I'll be using mine as a table - for meals and cooking, breakfast bar, etc as well as an outdoor project table. Cover with a heavy duty canopy grade silver tarp to keep the food spills contained (think BEARS). Get a couple of aluminum folding walkers with adjustable height legs at the thrift store/yard sales to level off the ramp. CaptD.

CaptD, Howdy;

One thing to remember is that propane needs external ventilation. My propane tanks
are inside compartments but the bottoms are just a big hole. Propane is heavier than
air so it needs to be able to vent to the outside below the tank(s). Just something to
think about ...

Propane

Postby CaptD » Sun Jun 26, 2016 1:01 pm

Yep. Thanks Hank. Used to know a guy who did Coast Guard safety inspections on boats/yachts and he told me that propane is similar to water as it wants to search out the lowest areas. He would open the propane locker and pour in a couple gallons of water. If all the water ran out (in a timely fashion) the propane locker passed inspection. So no vents on the top or sides and plenty of open floor on the bottom of the propane locker like yours. Thanks again Hank. I always welcome other folks input especially when its safety related.
