Redneck Teepee, wish I had seen who took this picture when I had the flat, I could of had them help do some of the pumping - as I said it took over 200 pumps (3 to 4 pumps per lb) which I did in 20 pump increments, with a walk around the truck for in between rests. It kicked my rear being it was so hot!!! Was 58 at the time and started wondering if this was going to lead to my 1st heart attack. About half way though, I started thinking it could be a lot worse, freezing cold - night time - poring rain - No shoulder - etc, etc, etc. Love the picture!!! Thanks!!!

this tire & 3 of it's close relatives were just three years old and as you can see, it still had lotsa good tread left

Image

all five tires on the trailer(4 on the ground plus a spare, 2 different brands and 2 different ages) had issues

none of them lost any air

they were the correct size and load range and had been religiously checked before each trip

they sat 6 months, traveled 425 miles, sat 6 months & traveled 425 miles for 3 years

i made it to a tire shop that was open 7 days/week and had all 5 replaced with new ones

that was closer than i like to get on a Sunday afternoon of a holiday weekend

going anywhere w/o a spare is less than prudent

I agree it's a no brainer, why wouldn't you want to be prepared?

I to, had one let go internally but it held air long enough to get us home.

This one was a bit more of a disaster as the bolts in the fender opened this one up like a can opener

Two reasons why I now carry a spare !
Growing older but not up !

Do you have a fire extinguisher? They are cheap now......but you'll pay anything when you need one. Buy a spare.

It is a long way between Revelstoke and Golden (150km), Jasper and Banff (288 km), or Saskatchewan River Crossing and Rocky Mountain House (178km). Blow a tire half way and you can burn the better part of a day getting a replacement fitted; hope it doesn't happen late in the afternoon.

Or on a Sunday when you have to pay emergency rates for the tire guy to come and open his shop to get you a new tire and rim (you know, theoretically) :(
Commandant Louis Joseph Lahure has a singular distinction in military history - he defeated a navy on horseback. Occupying Holland in January 1795, the French continental army learned that the mighty Dutch navy had been frozen into the ice around Texel Island. So Lahure and 128 men simply rode up to it and demanded surrender. No shots were fired.

Yes, I have one for my CT and none for my utility trailer. I think I am just lucky that not having one for my utility trailer being an issue.

Absolutely carry a spare, and re-pack your bearings before you take off and/or carry a spare set. If you do not, you may end up with a very entertaining story after the fact. I have a good one about a boat trailer coming home from Dale Hollow Lake.
