Ok, it's been a few days. I have not wanted to post pictures until this particular project is finished. However! Here are a couple teaser pics. Any guesses as to what I am doing?

Yep.. Window.AC Mount. I need to build.one myself.in the next few weeks.

Is that being built in a way to have the AC in a cabinet and not extend out the side, or will it extend outside. I am building one to be internal with a intake in the ceiling and vent out the wall. I have never done this before,.so for me, it is learning by doing. Anxious to see how you do it. Way to innovate!

With all the wood off the ramp and a big chunk of wood removed with the help of a router I began to cut a big hole in my ramp. Make sure your router bit is in tight and that you have the proper depth or you will end up with unwanted holes in the skin. I then cut a section of square tube. I was kinda spooked of going through the skin. Oh I should point out that my skin is glued on, so no taking the screws out and putting something between the aluminum and tube. With a grinder and a thin cutoff wheel I cut 1" away from the hole I wanted to cut to allow for a piece of square tube. I had to be careful not to go through the aluminum so I didn't cut all the way through. I came back about 3/8" and did the same cut. Then I cleaned out all the metal between the cuts, so now I have a wide slot with metal still on the bottom. I then went back over an inch where it wouldn't matter if I went through the aluminum and cut all the way through the square tube. I then cut on the original cut a little more but still not going through. Then I used some mig wire to cut the glue from the full cut to the original cut. This allowed me to bend the small piece until it broke and Voila (Wah Lah!) Didn't even have to get the grinder near the skin.


With the new tubes in place I was ready to weld them in. The dumbbells on lthe ramp keep it from slamming shut. Wont stay open without the wood.

The Roto Zip made short work out of cutting the hole.


Ramp is insulated and ready for the decking. The clamps are holding some flat pieces on the skin keeping it flat while some silicone dries on the new tubes.


Router worked great! I now have a hole in my ramp. Who would do such a thing?

The reason I went this route was, all I will be hauling in and out can be done with a hand truck.

The stud cutouts for my windows. Using the same technique with the wire, these cut out pretty easy. I think the glue is still drying since the trailer is so new.

First, I want to thank everyone for all the compliments
I got a little done today. The windows are all framed to size. I made these corner pieces with my modified Grizzly sheet metal roller.


I don't think the small transition (bump) into the curve should matter. Now as soon as I can get insulation in and boards on, I will router out the boards and Rotozip the aluminum.

But seriously, nice work! What a craftsmanship. I spent too much time in an office... I'd like to have some skills like that . It would come in handy for sure!

When I was scrolling through your build, I saw the AC in the rear door, and I said to myself,"Is that AC going to go flat when he opens the door!?"

Then I saw the frame standing and the door opened and thought, "Man this guy is bright!" "I bet he is so bright his mom calls him ,Sun!"

I did a little LED light testing. I bought a few to see what I liked.
1. This is the fixture that came with the trailer. I bought this LED replacement bulb for it. I was not really impressed. It wasn't nearly as bright as I was hoping a 68 led bulb would be. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301881412351?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
2. I got this as a porch light. I thought if I liked it I might buy one for each side of the trailer. Front for hitching, truck bed, etc. Back for the ramp or backing up maybe. Left for bad guy watch.

3. This was my pleasant surprise, with just a small row of leds I wasn't expecting much out of this thing. However, it was bright, has a warm light, I like it!! WINNER!!!
