Side table leg/brace help

Postby sned » Wed Jun 29, 2016 4:48 pm

My Google foo is weak today. I want to make my own Thule sink and having a hard time finding the legs/braces that attaches to the bottom of the table and braces against the TD side.

Picture of the sink I'm talking about:

I know I've seen these someplace and it's driving me up the wall trying to find them.

Was thinking about this, I can make the brace out of PVC, metal electrical conduit pipe, or even thinking copper pipe would look good.

"So-Cal" Teardrops uses this same support system for their side tables. Don't know if they would let you know where they get them, but you can find them here on the internet and could ask. I myself, was looking to go with this same setup also but realized folded for storing, they would be just too thick being I wanted to have 3 side table's stacked together for travel and there just wasn't space for them unless I had separate - detachable supports which is why use my "crutch' supports which are made out of crutches from the Goodwill. They work fine and are adjustable and really draw the comments from others. My side table "sink" has two 11 inch holes cut into it which two stainless salad bowls (11 inch dia./5 inch deep) fit into when cleaning along with also being useful for other things when traveling.

You can mount 1 or 2 flag pole holders below the sink and use a pipe to hold up the top. I did this on my old travel trailer and it worked great. Mount bracket to the back of the sink and the associated slideins/holders on the trailer side. Bracket can be 90 degree small angles, holders can be made from wood or metal.

I would be interested in a source for those side table legs as well. Like the Thule sink.

You could just do fold-down ones out of wood, too.
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

crutches are so 'adjustable' and just "Cooler" plus the senior second hand store always has them in stock for about 2 to 4 dollars a set. (found this out after I paid about 30 dollars for the new set I bought first - live and learn) wood could considered being environmentally unfriendly and wasteful being crutches are so available!! this is just an opinion ------------------------   :wine: FARM Gathering in 2 weeks!!! :wine: 8)

bob, that is absolutely BRILLIANT!

For my pull out galley, I'm using some old square, aluminum tripod legs I had.

No sink in mine but I use a length of closet organizer vinyl coated wire shelf. It is supported by 2 shelf supports that slip into 1/2 " ID aluminum tubes attached permanently to the side wall. I recently made a few simple brackets from plumbing strapping so the shelf swings down flush to the side of the trailer for travel. The supports simply lift off and slip into a 1 1/2 ABS tube mounted vertically in a location close to the table.

I will agree that crutches are adjustable, and unique looking.

However, on your wood comment, I would bet that most of us have enough scrap laying around to make something like this from, especially those that make swiss-cheese out of a piece of plywood and call it a skeletonized wall frame... :R

It could be considered to be more conservative, and less wasteful, to use up the scrap wood, rather than tossing it in the trash.

I conceal and agree on the wood pile - just my Pacific Northwest tree (PC) hugging side of me speaking out along with the vision left in my mind of ALL of the lonesome Crutches I saw sitting at the local senior second hand store just waiting for a new home. :)

Maybe you were thinkging of the 1 In. 90 Degree Elbow electric conduit that could work for these legs? They could be fixed to the table with brackets to fold flat, or just holes with pins.
