This is taken from a FAQ on the Mountain House website:

Q:
What is the shelf life for your foods?

A:
Our foods have the longest proven shelf life in the industry. Food sold in our iconic blue pouches have a shelf life of 12+ years. Food in our gallon-sized #10 Cans will last 25+ years. This means our food will taste virtually indistinguishable from new production for the times indicated.

Seriously, I've eaten enough of that stuff over years of backpacking to know what faint praise this really is :?

I've eaten so much of that stuff that I'm sure I wouldn't hesitate eating expired pouches. If I was hungry enough, I'd prob eat the actual pouch too.

That's my stash for our trip we head out for tomorrow.
