Here is my current iteration of the rear-kitchen arrangement, with a new cantelevered awning. I designed and built this cantilevered cover out of material at hand (poplar lumber and an old tarp) in about two hours for a camping trip to the desert last month. It is secured with bungee cords and is very stable. Stood up to a pretty nice wind storm one evening (35-40 mph winds)... I can install or remove it in about 2 minutes. It weighs about 5 pounds. Provided needed shade, as well as rain protection. it is supported at the rear most part with a couple of HF clamps on the door frame.
