Hi - do you have your other cards with State Farm already? I'm with Esurance who will not touch a home built TD. I called State Farm and he has to "look into it"...however, if my other cars were with them he could "make it happen". Please let me know if you only have your TD insured with State Farm or all vehicles.

Thanks!

Geico told me they don't insure home built trailers and to go see an independent insurance broker.
I told the agent that it's more than likely the Kit teardrop trailer being towed by a motorcycle in their TV ad was a homebuilt.
I've been with Geico for about 30 years and it looks like I need to find another insurance company. :x

UPDATE - State Farm is going to insure it. I sent them a picture and that seemed to show them that it wasn't some bucket of bolts.

If you are having trouble getting insurance with the "big" companies - Allstate, Geico, State Farm, etc. perhaps you would be better off dealing with a smaller company that specializes in RV insurance. I don't really know if they will be happier about home built trailers or not, but they're probably worth checking.

The Escapees club recommends these two insurance companies to their members:
