It would be Nice , and very Helpful , if everybody would check in now and then , telling us of their progress , and how their trailer (s) is holding up ... Feedback !!! It’s the only way we can know things like the burlap covered trailer are working as expected... Otherwise , we’re all just Guessing ...

I am off this weeks so some progress with the build when I get the chance. First it was reinstalling the doors, this time with weather stripping and door latch hardware.

I used storm door latches in this build. They work great except that the latch is a bit too far in to be able to latch properly. So I had to come up with a solution take up the slack. I purchased a gutter end cap and cut it up to make what I needed.

Next it was onto the hatch. At first I was just going to leave the hinge exposed, but then I decided to try to cover it. I prepped up some canvas with TBII and paint. Then I cut a straight edge on one side and sandwiched the canvas between the threshold spacer and hinge. I used a thick coat of paint between each part to make a water tight seal. Then I folded it over and sandwiched it again between the hinge, which is the lower of the two this time, and the threshold to make a canvas cover of the hinge area. Still have to trim the canvas.

Also got the electrical boxes divided to keep the electrical safe from the prop rod.

And got some correct screws to test fit the windows with inside flange.

I got the hinge cover trimmed. Still have to paint it, but you can see how it turned out. This is kind of a living hinge on top of a hinge......

Things are really moving along now. I did run into some issues with the tail lights. I tested them when I received them, but would not work when installed. I think I might have reversed the voltage and burned them out. Rather than wait for another set I decided to look at other options. I think I have one now that will work good and maybe even look better. Anyway that is all for this week. Next weekend will be another adventure in foamie construction.......

I didn't think you could burn out an LED just by reversing voltage, after all, isn't that what diodes are for, blocking reverse voltage?

Over voltage yes, but reverse voltage? Maybe a more experienced electronics person can clarify?

Don't think I would have over voltage them. I do not have anything over 12 volts here. I took them apart and there where some small electronics in them so maybe they got damaged somehow. Not really sure what happened.

KC may be on to something. I noticed on the Superbright LED site that there are 12 volt LEDs and their are automobile-rated 12 volt LEDs that can handle up to 14 or so volts of a car electrical system. Were the lights that fried for automotive use are adapted?

They were for automotive use. I am aware that you can overrun LED's, but usually they do not burn out all together and loose brightness before failing.
