We have a Coleman Power Chill iceless cooler. I think they are less than $100, I bought it off someone who won it in a raffle for $60.
It will sit upright or lay like a traditional cooler. It says it will cool down about 40 degrees below the outside temp - we froze water bottles during a desert trip, so much for that.... Works on 12VDC and 110VAC adapter comes with it. It cools very quickly.
Down side, the way the fan and electronics are open on the inside, you can't put ice in it. If it melts the water will short it out. It is a power hog - 2-3 amp dc - as it runs all the time, no thermostat. We just use ours while driving now as we have a Norcold in the TD.
