Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Sun Jun 12, 2016 7:55 pm

Finished the drawers with urethane spar varnish. Eager for it to dry so I can see the finished product installed. I hope to take the "AK Benroy" to the DMV this week and get it titled. WooHoo!

Looks great man...any reason why the middle bottom has the door knob off to the side?

Great question. You are very observant. It is a door that swings open, and not a drawer. Bryan

Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 7:08 pm

It is official. The State of Alaska has issued a VIN, and formally recognized the Alaskan Benroy as a legal legitimate camper. Just got the personalized plate in the mail today. :D

Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Wed Aug 03, 2016 8:47 pm

Just received the three magazines that are credited with starting the Teardrop phenomenon. Each magazine has plans. Took me a bit of patience, but finally got all three. March/April 1939 Popular Homecraft, September 1947 Mechanix Illustrated, and February 1940 Popular Mechanics.

Congrats & beautiful job on the build! Looks like it went together well, the fit & finish is outstanding.

Any plans for a 3rd brake light at this point? With the tail lights tucked in like that, it might be a good idea to have one at the top above the hinge or on the hatch......

Thanks for the kind praise! I don't have plans for a 3rd brake light at this point. All my wiring is all enclosed in the roof void. In retrospect it would have been a great idea. Bryan

Very nice! Just read through your build and I may have to steal an idea or two like the fender welting and curtain rods. Hope you don't mind. The wife loves curtains...
