Here's the largest thing I've made so far:





16'x20' 2-story building with 6'x16' upstairs porch and 10'x20' lean-to. Took me about a year of evenings and Saturdays. I did about 95% of it alone, including setting the ridge beam I think 23' in the air. Built it entirely out of rough sawn lumber from the local sawmill. It's 500 feet down in the woods behind our old house. Unfortunately it was impossible to move, so it couldn't go with us when we moved.

I gotta find time to build another one at our new house, so I can park in our garage again!

Thanks. It was a lot of fun to build.

The interior is not too exciting, it was mainly just our storage building. I couldn't find any pictures of the interior after it was all done, but here's a few while I was still working on it.

I can't find a picture on my phone of the upstairs after I was done with it, but I guess it was my man cave. That ugly floral loveseat in the pictures was up there (freebie from my grandmaw), and I built a knee wall around the stairwell and made a workbench desk over the top of it. That's where the TV sat, and an old computer.

I never insulated it or finished the interior walls. If we still lived there maybe I would have by now. We moved almost 4 years ago.

Here's my 8 ft boat I made out of one and a half sheets of lauan, on it's maiden voyage. I call it the SS Booger. I made the oars too.

Here's my latest project, besides the teardrop. My two uncles have been helping me on this one.

New 10'x20' front porch on our house. Still have to build the tapered square columns and railings and stain and paint. I built the 6' swing from scratch too, and the wife painted it.



New 10'x40' back porch too. Still have to trim it out, finish staining, put in balusters and screen it in.



New metal roof, siding, and windows too



And redid the living room wall / woodstove area. There were windows where those doors are, they lead out to the back porch. I have the slate tile done, but I need to grout it. Going to put a copper heatshield on the ceiling (decorative). Also need to install the shelves I made, cut them out of a slab of walnut. The Pine in the picture was just there so I had something to work my tile around.





Why did I start the teardrop now?!

I'm the type of guy that gets excited and wants to start a new project EVERY TIME before I finish the last one.

My excuse to the wife for starting the teardrop before the house remodel is done is so I can take my time and have it done for next year, and pay as I go. She fell for it. [WINKING FACE]

I made this 8' x 8' garden shed last summer, Jane painted it and helped whenever I needed some help.

I bought the windows for $15 each over 20 years ago from a front door manufacturer, they were seconds.
I made the raised panel door out of Sapele and Honduran Mahogany.

Jane made the rosettes on the lathe.
The siding is Hardi-Board and should last for a very long time.
It was a fun project.

Thanks, I like to do it right, even when it comes to a shed.
It brings a smile every time someone pass by it, including myself, so it was a worth while project.
It got all those stinky garden chemicals & fertilizers out of the garage.
I still need to make a tiny shed for the lawn mower since it's now in the crate my 350 came in.
If we ever get hard up for money I'll keep the back yard weddings idea in mind.
