Thanks Martin. I have a few extra days off at the end of next week. I am going to use that time to build cabinet doors. I hope they turn out okay. It will be another first for me. I am learning tons doing this stuff!

Don,
If you do as half as good of a job on the doors as you've done on everything else your doors will turn out great. There's nothing wrong with firsts. Just take your time, measure twice, then measure again. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

I'm learning tons myself and having to remember things I've learned over the years. The old grey matter has so much tucked away in it, sometimes it just takes a little longer to remember the simple things.

Don,

How many cans of spray paint did you use to paint the frame?
Did you use any corner trim for the shower enclosure?

I don't recall exactly how many cans of paint I used.. Less than 10... but I painted very liberally and the cans were 16oz.. The paint had 4oz free in each can. I am assuming you are referring to the wall frames. I have brush on for underneath that is not applied everywhere yet.

I used corner trim in the shower on the 90 degree corners. I have one angle that is greater than 90 degrees on the "wedge" part. On that one, I make sure I had a snug fit, taped it off well and layed down a nice thick bead of high quality silicone, smoothed it out nicely, and then removed the tape (tape provides good lines). It looks great and should last a long time.

Only had about two hours I could work on the trailer today. I finished marking off the cabinet doors. You can kind of see where things will go from the tape. I'll start cutting holes later this week and then fabricate doors.

Instead of having pull out drawers, I found a nice plastic set of Rubbermaid stacking drawers this will fit nicely behind the more narrow cabinet door.. so when that opens, there will be several longer/deep drawers.. With this design, I can configure it any way I want inside.

I need to clean up this old sink I got from the donor trailer... but I think it will go nicely where it is setting.

This is a random picture of how my back cabinets will hang. I will put these steel hangers on each beam and use that to secure a 2x2 to the ceiling which all the cabinet faces will mount to. I plan on using 1/2 Birch Plywood for the face and do the same with recessed lights like I did in the kitchen area. The cabinets will be 12" deep, but I am debating whether to make the 12" tall or 16"... In any case... they should be sturdy enough to hold some heavier items if needed.... although I'd rather keep the heavy stuff down low.

If you framed the inside then a quick job with the router and you openings are done, then use the cutouts for recessed panels on the doors.

I am going to use the paneling I used elsewhere in the trailer for the door panels. I was going to use Diamond plate aluminum, but that would have got expensive real quick and I am trying to keep the cost in line with my plan. I have plenty of the paneling scraps left over, and I figure that will tie in well with the remainder of the camper. I got the wife's buy in... so really... what else is there to do? :-)

I am going to do the cabinet paneling such that I can replace them easily later if I decide to "remodel" some down the road... after I recover from the initial costs. :-)

Made the panel for my Volts/Amps meters and installed all the shunts and wires for accurate readings. One meter monitors the Solar Charger input to the batteries and the other monitors the Battery Output to the Inverter. The top display has a problem and I will be returning it to Amazon as soon as the replacement arrives.... The mount is a double gang wall plate I cut out with a dremel tool and then painted black. I'll bolt it down as soon as I have the replacement meter.

The Solar Charger has a display that shows some of the same information for the charging... so it is redundant in that sense.. but I have a backup solar charger that I got cheap. It does not have a display like this, so in that case, the meter will do the job. Plus... a lot of digital displays look good to me! LOL... I like gadgets! :) :)

flboy, Howdy;

A few days late to the party but, ... over on my regular RV forum one of the folks there was having lack-of-space
problem with his shower and showed a picture of the "Box" that hels his shower controls;

maybe if there is an RV fix-it shop near you you might try seeing if they would order one for you. Then you could
close up that awkward bit you've had to come-up with. Me, I'd find one of the Mom & Pop RV places, much more in
need of your business and much more likely to be helpful then Camping World of some of the other big places. imo.

Sure do like the extent you've gone to to finish off your trailer.

That box is nice! ... I ended up getting the pipes almost flush with the stud within a 1/16 of an inch. The paneling is 1/8 inch and I just mounted it and figured I'd cut the access panel in I bought if it was noticeable... and for the life of me, I can's see it.. So I am happy with it the way it is now.... and I'll save the Access panel if I ever have to go into fix a leak or replace the faucet.

Thanks for the comments.. I still have a ways to go to finish and I am not going to make my deadline to go camping this weekend...but I have 5 days off in a row... so I expect to have a lot of progress pics by next week and be just in the trim and final interior painting mode after this weekend with the only major work being building and installing the loft bed and then installing an awning. If things go as usual.. I won't get as far as I want and will still also have some cabinet doors to build too.

No.. It is just quarter round. The water seal is with silicone RTV and the trim is for finish.

Don,

Your electrical work and cabinet work look really good!

Awesome job on the display panel!

I like them too! Looks "hi-tech" and "racy".

Take care,

I have the next few days off and planned to get a lot done today, but my Air Conditioner quit at home. I spent the morning chasing some parts, but I was able to fix it with a starter capacitor and cleaning the startup relay contacts. That was great it only cost $17.00. :worship:

I spent some time cleaning up the wiring and putting in DC breakers for the Inverter and etc. between rain storms today. I also got the DC meters figured out and all wired . The AC stuff up top, DC stuff in the middle, and batteries at the bottom.

The Dual Band VHF/UHF HAM radio is just setting there. It will be remote mounted when I get the dinette in.

Image

Battery disconnect switch in. Shunt wires neatly packed away. I will panel inside the cabinet to hide/protect the wires. This will be a closet for hanging stuff.

Most all of this wire I recycled from the Donor Camper. It is all heavier Gage than really needed for the circuits... but I like to overbuild anyhow. It should give me no troubles. Good heavy gage copper wire is expensive these days!

Image

Meters working well! :-) I got the replacement for the defective meter today.

Image

Getting ready for major cabinet building tomorrow. The rail that will bear a lot of the weight of the cabinets and contents. I'll build the remainder tomorrow.
