coating over fabric

Postby Bent bike guy » Sun Aug 28, 2016 11:28 pm

I glued Dacron fabric using TB2 and have numerous bubbles in the fabric. I can sand them down lmost to the wood on most of it but looking for some 1/8" thick paint LOL
was suggested maybe snow coat or ?? was even thinking Gripper primer but ?? looking for suggestions. The surface loks great except for some bubbles.
Any ideas??

Have you tried ironing the bubbles out ? ... The heat re-activates the TB2 and makes it sticky again ... Best not use Momma’s good iron ... Test on scraps first ...
There’s no place like Foam !

Did you use the Dacron fabric that is used for aircraft wings. This fabric may be pre-stretched and will shrink with heat.

For thick paint I suggest elastomeric roof coating in white. You will have a thick white reflective coating that is tough. Obviously waterproof and reflects sun and heat. It may not give the smoothest finish.
