Building a fiberglass wiley window with sun cure
I am held up on the build of D I.Y Light weight sleeper using D.I.Y rail top components .I need to have the windows to finish the Designs.
It's very important that any one can build their own rail top components to the owner's here.

Some have a hard time getting their head around doing anything with fiberglass. Concern's about it curing to fast smells .time.

We received some sun cur. Work with resin as long as you need, and then expose to UV light.
•Completely cures in just a few minutes.
•Build strong laminations in minutes.
•Greatly reduces fumes.
•Regulate finish hardness with short exposures.
•Eliminate resin waste.
•Results are the same at any temperature.
•No need to mix any hardener

I know U.V cure spot body filler is junk.
Will see if it has a long working time. Will see what the structure like in a vertical position

Glass .
Glass plate is not the safest. Auto glass cost a few loonies . So the best for me to use is tempered glass.
The least costing that I have found is a cutting board. I've found new 12''-by- 16'' for $4.50 ,used $ .99 .

Polycarbonate would work fine . As long as it was not near a lock. A lighter will melt it with no sound.
I am contemplating using a Honda rear window flip car lock. On the top of window. You would not be able to remove the glass.

I would rather have the their look inside and see nothing of value, than smash the door locks, break the door, cut the screen, or anything else.
We lock all valuables in the car and never even lock the tear doors.

I have my outer teardrop door handles mounted so that they must be rotated up to open, most people pull down and assume it is locked, then walk away.

Tried the sun cure today. Not impressed.
Added 6 gm to a one gallon.
Placed on the black top in full sun. After 20 it lost its tacky but no cure . After 2 hours. Just stared to cure . The ads clams it cures in five minutes . The mix got gummy after six hours in the shade open air.
Will add two more gm .Then give a go.

Not impress with the sun cure. Added two more grams. The total of 8 grams per gal.

Lost tacky in ten minutes after placed in full sun. When to green stage in 90 minutes .Was soft for more than four hours.

After four hours prided from tooling . Found it was wet at the tooling.

The piece was the form of a box . Had to keep moving to get sun to hit all parts .Think of a sundial

.In conclusion . The fumes are low, Very long working time.

In my opinion it is not worth the ten dollars added to each gallons.

Can you get your hands on some UV fluorescent grow lights? They are under $5USD and fit a standard 4ft shop fixture. They may create the focused UV spectrum you need to cure thoroughly and very quickly.

If you decide to work under UV lights, please wear the properly tinted safety glasses or goggles. Ones that are specific to block UV light, you don't want to go blind. If you don't wear long sleeves and protect other parts of your skin, you will get "sun burnt". If you don't plan to work under the lights, then no worries.

I must have been raised in my own world. I never would consider security measures when designing a unit...I only use latches to stop the wind. I am one of those crazy people who leave all my windows down and the keys on the driver seat or in the cup holder while I am work or the store and definitely at home...if I were to lock any door it would be the galley as that is where all the expensive stuff will be. Inside is mostly just bedding and if they need that, they probably need it more than I do!
