I am going to build the bed less than 100 lbs.. so I believe I'll only need the two struts to assist the lift and then I will use pins through the guides to keep it up and not load the struts.

These mount brackets I found on eBay should simplify the build also. I ordered qty 4 of those.

I have a very simple design in mind by using regular house bed rails of the type used with a headboard and footboard and have the hooks on the ends to catch the headboard. I'll build the guide channel using qty 2 90 degree angle iron pieces facing eachother on each side spaced wide enough for the frame connection and put a bolt through at the bottom to catch the bed rail hook like on the headboard. Going to take minimal welding to make a ladder frame. With screws 6 inches spaced on each side of the guide, the walls will support the bed and the guides will only be 3.5 ft. long... We'll see how it works. It always harder to take it from the mind to reality.

Don, as with the rest of your build I'll be following your Murphy bed construction. Take care, Tom

Hey Don,
I must have missed a page before, cause I just saw your A/C in another thread. So I came over here. So, NICE! I gotta get the stereo and boob tube installed. Speaking of televisions, Tu no habla Espanol? Por que? Don't let Hillary find out, she'll put ya in the "Basket of Deplorables"... with me and Tommy. But seriously, Have you ever seen the Senoritas in those Mexican Soap Operas? Ay Caramba!!l Muy Caliente! But talk about high maintanence, they're not bad when they're young, but that mustachio comes in after thirtysomthin', and then they're just plain mean, like I put it there... But I digress..
So, give me the good poop on digital antennas, antenni? antennae, you know what I mean. I have a satellite system that we have used in the T.V. but I dont spend a lot of time at the camp usually, and really just need some News/weather with my Irish Coffee in the morning. I don't really want another 100.00/month habit. So i'll need one good 150-200 miles?
Also, is that your furnace below the fridge? You must be planning on comin' up here for the summer. ;)
Hookin mine up manana!

McDave

Oh yea, I do have a pool and tub, they're indoors.... Montana you know. 44f this am, high 62f, It's Sept.!!! :frightened:

McDave, Howdy;

I've heard a lot of good things about the KING Jack antenna http://kingconnect.com/product/king-jack-antenna/
The only problem that I can imagine would be if a roof top A/C would be between the ant. and the signal you're
looking for as it doesn't raise up like the older style http://www.winegard.com/sensar .
Trouble is I don't think any are rated for the distance you are looking for.
Here's a site that can help you find which direction to point the ant. to get a signal. Shows where the re-transmission
towers are so you can find your Tella-Novellas. https://www.antennasdirect.com/transmitter-locator.html

McDave, this is what I ordered. I bought this primarily for the omnidirectional feature so I do not have to rotate and it also had the FM radio output included, so only the one antenna needed . I do not believe it will have the ranges you want, but I know it is good for at least 80 miles when I am at sea level .

Hey Don,
I've been on sat. so long I didn't even think about retransmission towers. There is probably one in or near every little town across the state. Billings is the closest broadcasting station and it's almost 200 miles from HERE. Next would be Rapid City, about the same. Then Gillette, Fargo, Bozeman, Mizzoula, etc. all around 400 miles away, so there has to be some transmitters somewhere. I'll look at some specs and talk to some RVer's. Thanks for your help.

Yes, I can see where that may be a problem out West. In the Southeast , there are no shortage of TV signals to receive. It goes hand in hand with population. No need to transmit to the cattle. They don't buy anything advertised. :-)

Got the router table all set up and a 1/2 Cove and 1/4 inch straight bit ready to go. Going to give cabinet door making a try. I'll have to first rip down some 1x4s to 1x2 for the frames before I route them. I have never done this before so I hope to keep all my fingers. I'll start the process Saturday and goal is to have all the doors done by Monday PM. Gotta love YouTube for instructional videos. Of course I believe everything I see in the internet! :-)

Go for it Don. Take a couple of scrap pieces and practice with them until you get your height and such set. Then run a scrap piece and see if you like the profile. You'll get the hang of it. Just don't let the wife see how good they turn out or she'll have you making new doors for your house  .

Thanks for encouragement Martin. I am looking forward to it. I have the proper tools and I find that is usually half the battle. I am looking forward to giving it a try Saturday.

By the way.. I meant to ask a question... Should I build the frames and then run the outer edges through the router.. or should I route the pieces before I assemble them? For the inside of the frame I have a small handheld trim router I got from Harbor Freight that should cut the inside with the 1/4 Inch straight bit, beading or cove (not decided). What is the best way?

Try to do all the router work while its in pieces. Watch for tear out on end grain cuts.

Hey Don,
I have done a fair bit of finish/Trim carpentry and I usually get the set up for 1 operation and run all the stock thru, then set up for the next op. and again run all the stock. So, rip it all to size, put your inside rabbits or dado on all. Then outside edge etc. Probably should run a couple extra sticks, just in case.
Odds are you will be building several different size doors, so at this point, one door at a time. Two rails x length, two styles y length.
Go get em',

You wouldn't happen to have an example of the relay for the back-up lights? Just tap into TV reverse light wiring and use that to trigger relay in trailer and house battery, correct?
Thanks,

McDave

Dave, that is correct. Just use the reverse light to control the relay for the house battery to the lights. You can also connect the output of the relay to the CTC switch output so you can control the light with or without the TV hooked up . It will not harm either if they are both active since they are both on the house battery.

I will draw something up tonight when I get home. I meant to previously, but forgot until just now reading this. It is rough getting old. :D

Hey Don,
Just curious, where did you mount your relay that your using to trigger your spot/back up lights?

Martin, The relay is near to the manual switch for the same light. The backside of the switch is inside my electrical closet so it is real convenient and electrically is in parallel to the manual switch anyhow.

I've not run the control wire to my trailer/truck connection yet.
