Congrats on the season. Great accomplishment. Now on to the the really important task. Putting most others to shame with your skills and attention to detail as they pertain to the job at hand. Really looking forward to see the further development of the Astroliner.....

Thank you guys. It feels good to be back again. Trying to go through and look at the progress on the other builds. A lot has happened over the summer!

Thanks for the positive input everyone!
For anyone interested, we are starting a blog about the build. I really like the build journal but it tends to be a lot to go through for the average person just wanting the build basics without all the detail. I've had a couple people tell me it takes about six hours to go through the current journal! And I'm sure it would take about a year to read KC's! Anyway, I'll post the link and update it as I have time. Hopefully I'll get it caught up with this one eventually.

Re: The Astroliner

This weekend was very productive but very exhausting! I set a new personal record because I worked 36 straight hours. I worked 30 before without sleep but 36 is a new record. But I did get a lot accomplished. The goal was to get the Astroliner sealed up and watertight. The problem that we have is it's in my brother's shop and cannot be pulled outside if the weather is bad. So it's kind of taking up space. We made the decision to get her sealed up then we could pull her outside when needed; I could take her up to my place to work on if needed. It would just open up a lot more opportunity if she was weather tight. So this weekend was spent doing a lot of installation. The windows were the trickiest part but I was able to get it figured out and make it work. Rough opening measurements are pretty close considering we had nothing to go on but the tape measure. It was difficult to decipher where the Rubber seal sat inside the window. The side window was 100% dead on. But the front window had a little bit of an issue. My dad used to always say the sign of a good Carpenter is being able to fix your mistakes, well, my brother and I figured out a solution and aside from maybe a little bit of trim work on the interior that I wasn't counting on it sealed up nice and looks great. I still have to paint the inside of the door. I want to paint it the orange copper flake to match the walls. Now I can focus on getting the inside finished. It's a new chapter and I'm pretty excited! We are ready to start building cabinets and working on all of the built-ins that we need. No matter what I am camping in this thing come spring! The paint isn't where we are going to end up. I am going to do some custom work but I'm saving that for the very end. Too much opportunity to get a scratch in the shop. Also the roof will be a vinyl wrap. We finally figured out what we're going to do and I think you're going to like it. She's definitely going to have a vintage feel with a modern Flair. Anyway here's the pictures let me know what you think.

Instant classic! :applause:

Do you plan to pull all of the windows and doors, etc. to do the final paint, or will you just mask around everything?

Pretty much everything has a really nice clean edge that will be easily masked, with the exception of the windows. But the nice thing about those they tilt up and slide right off the hinge in about three seconds. Then I'll just mask the opening behind the window. Tail lights, rear windows and front window will have a vinyl wrap anyway so it's basically just the peripherals on the side. At this point, everything is sealed up and attached semi-permanently. I used 3M 4200 in case something fails and needs to be replaced. I started to use 5200 but changed my mind when I thought about how permanent that product is.
