Heat People...

I think you people are friggin' nuts!!!
I just got back from doing a job in Happy Camp.
If I ever desire to be in that type of environment again... I'll just crawl inside my oven for a few days before heading out, to climatize myself first.

Jack,
No thanks...
I like my cool coastal climate... Afterall, I'm a Fog Crawler; Human equivelant to a spit bug.

One nice thing about that job... Lost most of the weight I've been tryin' to lose.
Another five pounds and I'll be down to what I weighed when I played ball.
(Gonna have to be carefull with the dutch oven use though...)

Me loves the HEAT!!! WHen my son is not at the house....90 inside is no problem...feels cool after being outside, too.
Growing up driving tractors, farm work, and landscaping seems to have given me an edge.

What the heck is Happy Camp?

And by the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about basketball.

As far as the temperature goes, you really get used to it, and your blood thins out. Whenever I go north and it's even just MODERATELY cool, I freeze my a** off.

Also, the heat obviously doesn't affect mental capacity at all, since most of us in tropical climates still don't put mayonnaise on pizza.

And Matt--really? You go in the pond with the fish?

COOL!
Here we go again!

I'm with Dean on this one, anything above 70* for me is just too damn hot!!
If I could find somewhere the temps were about 65* year round with about 45-50% humidity I'd probably relocate there.

Ira,
I'm too short to even watch basketball.
Happy Camp is a little dot of a town out in the middle of nowhere, just a tick below the Oregon border, just about dead center of the state... a place where they role the sidewalks up at 8:00pm every night.
The upper Klammath runs along side this little town and the Karuk Indians live there... They seem to not be affected by the heat but... The crew I worked along side of, worked from 6:00am to 2:30pm. It was a slick way to beat the hottest part of the day, but I didn't have that option... I worked from 5:00am to 11:00PM each day to beat the clock.
If you and I ever meet, you will for sure have to eat "crow" if you're lucky enough to get a slice of my pizza.

Ohhhh--now I understand:

You guys don't LIKE pretty girls in thongs going topless on the beach!?

Well, to each his own.

Also Dean, they do the same thing here--they start work early early and end early. Not just for the heat, but the afternoon rains.
Here we go again!

Every summer the wife and I get into the thermostat war. She wants it set to like 75 and I like it at 78. We compromise and have it set to 77. She'll still sneak over and drop it down a couple degrees when I'm not looking. Luckily it's a programmable thermostat and will revert back to the program when it gets to the next time cycle.

Here's the rub, we both grew up in Florida but she grew up in a house with no air conditioning. Figure that one out.

WOW...that is almost an exact description of my house. I kept the programmable thermostat at 78 and she kept dropping it every time she got a hot flash. I finally reprogrammed it for 77 and it doesn't get dropped quite as often. Still, it will revert back to 77 in a few hours on it's on.

I don't think she had air conditioning much of her childhood in FL. I know I didn't until I was in my late 20s and put a window unit in my LR.
