4 on 4" BC hubs to junkyard wheels ?

Postby rustytoolss » Tue Oct 25, 2016 7:17 pm

My hubs are 4 bolt on 4.00" BC. Are there any car wheels/rims that will fit my hubs ? so that I can use a 13"-14"-15" tire ?

4 x 4" is pretty rare. Are you sure it's not 4 x 100 mm?

I will re check the size. But I've seen standard small trailer hubs listed as 4 on 4" BC. I think that is what I have. I'll check to be sure. Right now I have small (golf cart sized trailer tires) 18.5x8.5x8"rim. HF sells 4.80-12 with a 4 on 4bc wheel. But would like to find a 13-14 inch rim if possible.

I had a couple Toyotas that had 4 lug wheels, and a Subaru. All were 80's and early 90's. Don't know what the bolt circle was, but the Subaru was different from the Toyota. Might even have a couple somewhere in my barn

No this is for my trailer. Just wanting to know what car wheels might fit a 4 on 4.00" BC. Would a 4 on 100mm car wheel, be close enough to work safely on my trailer ?

azgreg is right that 4 x 4" bolt pattern is very rare on cars. If you can find a 1982 to 1990 MG Metro you will be in luck, and likely pay a high price as there are losts of posts about MG owners looking for those rims or another solution what to use. 4 x 4" = 4 x 101.6 mm as you know and 4 x 100mm is common on a lot of small cars including the Honda Civic in my garage. As for using a 100mm bolt circle rim on a 101.6 mm bolt circle hub - I wouldn't do it. The lug nuts are not going to seat properly. But it does look like 13" 4 x 4" rims are available. I found this link http://www.tirebuyer.com/wheels/pacer/310w-white-spoke/p/style/37128 and it shows item 310W-3404-72 is a 13" rim, 4.5" wide with 4 x 4 bolt pattern, zero offset and a 83.82 mm hub bore. Here is an Amazon link for a seller https://www.amazon.com/Pacer-13x4-5-Offset-Partnumber-310W-3404/dp/B007MF966A From what looking I did, 13" was the biggest I found with that bolt pattern. Any large you would likely have to change the hubs to standard 4 x 4.5" trailer hubs. EDIT - I mean standard 5 x 4.5 trailer hubs.

Yes, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to change out the hubs to 5 on 4.5"?
Then you could run almost any wheel you wanted (probably get the wheels for free) and you could go 15 " which are delightful to tow!

I missed you were looking for car wheels that fit 4 on 4.
I think the difference is about 1/16 with 4 X 100mm.
How close is close enough I don't know.
Here is a pic of my 5 hole lug bolt pattern wheels that I placed on my 5 hole lug nut pattern brake drum. I used them to fit my CTC in my pole barn for winter.
