Thanks Sharon I'm almost done I need figure out why my right turn signal doesn't work, test the water system,
test the heat system, make a mount for the LPG tank, But I want to use my 6 pound LPG tank because it's way lighter but I need to get a new valve put on it, Go to DMV so they can lighten my wallet
and I want to paint it so it doesn't blind people around us, But I'm still about a color.

Got a lot more of the lose ends finished up. The tail lights now work I had a wire or two in the wrong spot
Water heater now works on LPG or AC And the heater inside works great and the thermostat works I'm .
I also built and installed the rear bumper. I still need to put a handle on the hatch to lift it up.
We are going camping tomorrow for a few nights up in the Sierras to see what I need to change or what else we need to bring with us. I will post some pictures while we are there.

We finally made it on our first camping trip with the Teardrop for two nights in the Sierras. Everything went great except for a leaky used faucet that is now fixed. It towed great on the freeway up hwy 80. I got it all registered at DMV and have my PTI plates. I also weighed it and it came in at 1470 lbs with the 6" foam mattress and all bedding. It weighed a bit more than I thought but I guess it's not bad considering what I've put in it. Paint will be coming in the next few weeks.

The Tear Drop now has some paint on it and as soon as it was dry enough we left for Wisconsin. I just painted the hole roof and hatch so it wouldn't blind anyone.

We are back from our trip to Wisconsin and back. Here's a picture of the Tear Drop with the cream paint on the roof and hatch.


This was a very long day. I had ordered the paint online and it was suppose to be here in 5 days but it took 9 days. So I drove an hour to pick up the paint so I could paint the roof and hatch before we left on our trip to Wisconsin. So I got it painted by 3:00 pm and we left as soon as it was dry enough about 5:00 pm. We camped in it for 22 nights. Drove 6374 miles and saw so many beautiful places.



The Beetle towed it great. We went over many passes 5000' and the highest was 8700'
We averaged 34 mpg
Only problem we had was condensation inside on cold nights. Coldest nights were 30 in Yellowstone. The heater worked great and we kept the thermostat around 67 when sleeping at night.

I just don't have the kind of patience to do all the extras like you did. I have to say that is one beautiful build!! You could show that in a competition.

I laughed at your going after the paint. It is always amazing how getting close to the end of something makes you want to hurry. I call it Barn-i-est. I coined that when I was a kid riding horses all day. When we would get back close to home and barn the horse would get a little stubborn and walk a little faster.

I see it on motorcycle trips too. Guys would start home and then start pushing the stops further some riding all the way back home. Guess I could call it Home-i-est...LOL or finish-i-est when it comes to projects.

But, I digress. Your build is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the nice comments Bill. Well I'm a few more percent done with the Teardrop. I painted the sides the same cream color as the top and hatch. But I didn't take any pictures before putting it away for the winter.
Looking forward to going camping at some Teardrop gatherings this next year. And I will post some pictures of it painted.
I think I'm at 97% done now. I think. Maybe. SEEYA next year.
