It's a chilly 55 degrees this morning. I had to put on long pants instead of shorts. For some of the country camping season is coming to a close but down here it is finally getting cool enough to start camping.

Had our first frost here this morning Tom. 28degrees at my house at 6:30am. High today forecast to be in mid-50s to low-60s. All my friends & family are deer hunting this weekend. Yesterday was modern gun opener in Arkansas. Our 15-year old great grandaughter got a nice 8-pt buck yesterday morning; her 13-year old sister got a doe last weekend (youth hunt). They're carrying on a family tradition that their mother started when she was six. They have a 5-year old sister who may break it tho, she ain't decided yet whether or not she wants to be a girl girl but I suspect she might... Anyway, we're kinda glad to see cooler weather, tho when it gets below freezing we're not as comfortable as we used to be.

Good morning gentlemen you also Kerry. :R

We were warmish this morning. I did not check the temp early.. but we were above freezing. When we went out to work.. it was 40 and it has gotten up to 50.. which is really quite warm for the middle of November. We have been doing more trail work. Although I really need to take a break. I am pretty sore and tired. hmm the days are blending.. We have had trees come down in our last windy day. We had one to cut yesterday doing work.. then in our afternoon ride we came across another. This morning.. I was only going to do a little work… to cut up that last downed tree.. and to cut a few saplings on some other new trails. 3 hours later..

We were going to ride with Angela today.. it's her birthday and she said she wanted to ride on her birthday.. but now it sounds like she isn't interested..

So we will go out for a little spin on our own.

Another frosty morning (23 degrees). Should get up to about 50 today and be sunny.

Not much sleep last night! :( I woke after a couple hours of sleep and could not go back to sleep. Read for a couple hours and finally got a couple more hours of sleep, but not restful at all. Have to leave in about 30 mins to head over to Mark's house and then we will go to breakfast and then on to Cabelas. Doubt I will buy anything, but Mark is looking for another hand gun.

We are also in the low 20's.. and are supposed to warm nicely.

We did have a good ride yesterday. Nothing to challenging or fast.. we just wanted to get out. We also wanted to check out some of the new trails.. or trail changes. Also to start the packing process… although most of the areas are to dry to do any decent packing. We really like the new trails and changes to others.

While we have a LOT more we want to do out there, I need to get back to working here. For one I need a physical break from the trail work, and we do have work to do here.

We got well into the 50's yesterday… it was pretty sweet. I did go out and do a little trail mowing yesterday, but mostly worked here on the house. Last night was our regular Monday Night ride, and with the Super Moon we had request for a hike. Angela, Laurie and I headed out at 4:30. We got to see a gorgeous moon rise…. and stopped a few other places to admire it. Laurie bugged out early to pick up the hikers. I got Angela back to the house at 6:00.. then headed back out to look for the hikers. They were harder to find than I expected.

We were out for about 3 hours.. I got kind of tired near the end.. I have not been biking enough.. and no food and little water.. I was a little toast. It was a gorgeous night to be out.

We have some significant rain coming.. they are saying right now.. not until later.. so I will try to work around here.

Today wasn't as cold as I was expecting. But basically no rain locally. We need the rain bad here.

Our rain didn't start until 6:00 or so last night. I worked on some flashing for the porch yesterday morning… slow work… a lot of cutting, and bending. I went out and did some leaf blowing after lunch. I wanted some rest from the bike.. and from significant upper body work.. but wanted to move /exercise in some way. So leaf blowing won out.

We did get some decent rain last night, and it is still raining now. It is supposed to taper to showers. I suspect I will head out for a bike ride this afternoon [showers or not] Some of these new trails will benefit from being ridden while they are wet. They will break in faster.. and that freshly dug earth will pack. Actually often just the rain falling can pack stuff down a bit.

Perhaps some errands this morning.

Good Morning!

43 this morning and will be in low 60s today. I have to work today mowing lawns. Hopefully, for the last time this year. Probably 5 hours or so.

Spent 4 hours yesterday moving and rearranging my detached garage. I had a buyer for my Shopsmith, but he backed out last night. Need to get rid of it to make more room so I can park my truck in there over the winter.

I ended up going out for a ride this morning. I figured I would prefer to ride in the rain.. and then work this afternoon.. without rain.. vs working this morning and riding without it.
I spent most of my time, on one particular trail. I made 20 passes on this one trail.. back and forth.. back and forth. It was enough that in the wet.. it did make a difference. It can take quite some time to break in a trail.. but this will at least be a start. Doing this also helps define a line.. so that other riders are apt to ride on the same line. It's not a real twisty trail.. so staying on a line will be easier, and the "chosen" line seemed to work whether coming or going. On some trails that is not the case. There is room to vary this.. and some riders will. There was another trail I "ran" 5 times. [It had been used more before]

Hmm the trail Dirt Reynold.. is a trail we have been using all season.. but we recently did a bit of earth work to smooth some of it out. The rain did help it out. I ended up only riding it once.. it's a bit of a hill.. and I wan't feeling up to doing repeats on that. While more break in will help.. it's still pretty fun as it is. I rode a cross cut trail " Cross Roads" 2 or 3 times. [I forget] There are places there I still need to do some earth work still. I also rode Bad Sign once.. it rides pretty good as it is.. but it will get better with break in.

Nothing too serious. When It was first named.. there was a big dead tree that had partially fallen.. and we put the trail under it. It seemed to be hung up pretty solid. It was around a time when we were having a lot of trees coming down. We had all joked that Laurie was looking to do me in. One of our hikers said the name needed to be Bad Idea.. :D

We are in the upper 30's this morning.. and I think we are supposed to have a decent day. [I am not sure if sunny or not] Laurie will be home early.. and we will be working on the house.

Blech.. Not feeling that great today. I am hoping to get a lot done these next few days.. It sounds like our temps will finally cool off next week.. Highs of low 30's

So I would like to make the best of these next few days. I am currently finishing up the framing of the earth side of the top of my parapet wall project. The framing is just to fasten wire lath to, so I can plaster it. I am pretty sure the plastering won't be gotten to this fall, but getting the rest of it ready would be good.

I do have a little more metal trim to put up. I have plans for a small steep awning type roof over the area where the porch fireplace is. I am not sure if we will do that this year or not. I would like to get another gabion made. Much of that we can do in cooler weather. Although I would need to do the prep earth work before we freeze up. Although unless it gets REAL cold real quick.. I will have some time for that.
